Leah Messer a star of the TV show Teen Mom talks about how hard it is to adjust her lifestyle. Her twin daughters are starting school again which makes her emotional and nervous that they want more independence. The process hasn’t been easy for Leah with balancing her twins and her younger daughter.
Leah Messer Can’t Let Go
Leah Messer, a mother of three, is learning to adjust to the changing dynamics in her family as her twin daughters, Aliannah and Aleeah, reach a major milestone. The twins recently turned 15 and started high school. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Leah shared how she’s navigating the challenging balance of giving her teens more freedom while still being there to support them.
Leah who is now 32 years old, admits that she’s finding it difficult to let go of her children, especially as they grow older. “I have to let them live and learn,” she said. Messer explained that part of this journey is giving her daughters the space they need to grow and make their own decisions. She realizes that it is important for them to develop their independence, especially now as they adjust to the changes that come with high school.

Aliannah’s Medical History
The process hasn’t been easy for Leah. While raising her teenage daughters, she is also a mom to 11-year-old Adalyn, whom she shares with her ex-husband Jeremy Calvert. Messer’s parenting journey is further complicated by Aliannah’s health condition, Titin Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy, which affects her muscles and limits her mobility. As Aliannah grows older, she wants more independence, but Leah faces the challenge of protecting her while also supporting her wishes for freedom.
Messer opened up about how difficult it can be to find this balance. She has spent years taking Aliannah to doctor’s appointments, and medical tests, and learning about the disease’s impact on her daughter’s body. Despite the medical conditions, Leah is determined to give Aliannah the same opportunities to explore her independence as any other teenager. “It’s a balance. It’s definitely a balance, letting Ali… she wants her independence and you want to give her that,” Leah explains. However, Leah also wants to ensure that Aliannah stays safe and doesn’t overwork her muscles, which could worsen her condition.
The upcoming season of Teen Mom will sho wth emotional struggles she faces in allowing her children to grow while trying to protect them. Although it’s not easy, Messer remains committed to doing whatever it takes to help her daughters thrive. She expresses that while she is not perfect, she will continue to do her best for them every day. What are you hoping to see in the next season of Teen Mom?
