Over the past four years, singer Marilyn Manson was the subject of an investigation concerning allegations of sexual assault and domestic violence. However, the case has recently been given a new update. Manson’s own attorney has also released a statement over the news.

A Los Angeles District Attorney Gave An Update Concerning The Claims Against Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson, born Brian Hugh Warner, came to fame as the lead singer of his namesake band, Marilyn Manson. Reportedly, members of the band crafted their stage names from female sex symbols and male serial killers. Warner’s own alter-ego was inspired by actress Marilyn Monroe and criminal cult leader Charles Manson.

Throughout his career, Manson has served as a prominent, if controversial, figure in the heavy metal music scene. Over the years, Manson has been accused of charges including sexual assault and sexual misconduct by multiple women.

According to Yahoo! Entertainment, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office recently gave an update concerning the charges against Manson in L.A. As District Attorney Nathan Hochman shared in a statement, “We have determined that allegations of domestic violence fall outside of the statute of limitations.” The office also noted, “We cannot prove charges of sexual assault beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Hochman’s statement also highlighted the accusers. He continued that, “We recognize and applaud the courage and resilience of the women who came forward to make reports and share their experiences.”

Hochman continued, “We thank them for their cooperation and patience with the investigation.” He also noted, “While we are unable to bring charges in this matter, we recognize that the strong advocacy of the women involved has helped bring greater awareness to the challenges faced by survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault.”

Beforehand, Manson had been under investigation by the L.A. department since 2021. For his part, Manson has denied any wrongdoing.

One Of Manson’s Accusers Released A Statement Concerning The Update

Manson’s attorney also released a statement following the news. As it read, “We are very pleased that, after a thorough and incredibly lengthy review of all of the actual evidence, the District Attorney has concluded what we knew and expressed from the start: Brian Warner is innocent.”

Some of the women who have made accusations against Manson include his former partner and actress Evan Rachel Wood and Game of Thrones alum Esmé Bianco. Since the news, Bianco also released a statement on Instagram.

Bianco had previously sued the musician back in 2020, with allegations of sexual and physical abuse. She and Manson settled the suit in early 2023.

In her statement, Bianco wrote, “Within our toxic culture of victim blaming; a lack of understanding of coercive control, the complex nature of sexual assault within intimate partnerships, and statutes of limitations that do not support the realities of healing; prosecutions face an oftentimes insurmountable hurdle.” She continued, “Once again, our justice system has failed survivors.”
