Sleuthers Worried Hallmark Will Stop Making Mysteries Now Lisa Hamilton Daly Is Gone

Now that Hallmark Media has eliminated the EVP of Programming Lisa Hamilton Daly’s position, Sleuthers are worried that the network is going to stop making mysteries. Daly was the person who was behind the rebranding of HMM to Hallmark Mystery. She also was key in creating more series that aired in 2024. Although her intention was to make as many of these mysteries into a three-movie series to determine whether or not they deserved more, it does not seem that the new regime is interested in mysteries.

Right now, Sleuthers are still waiting for one series to be renewed. This has caused a lot of discussions on social media. What do these devoted mystery fans have to say about their concern?

Sleuthers Are Worried Hallmark Is Going To Stop Making Mysteries

Hallmark fans have been busy talking about the aftermath of Lisa Hamilton Daly’s departure from the feel-good network. The main concern is what will happen to mysteries. Daly invigorated the genre, which has been a lot of fun for Sleuthers. In 2024, the network introduced a cornucopia of mysteries on Hallmark Mystery as well as the rebranded streaming channel, Hallmark+. Some of those new mysteries included the Holland Roden and Chris McNally-led Tipline Mysteries, the Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith-led Nelly Knows Mysteries, and more.

On Reddit, Sleuthers shared their concerns. One fan shared, “Hallmark mysteries are the only movies I watch. I hope they’re not ditching that.”

Another fan shared how a podcast that they listened to “speculated” the end of Hallmark Mystery and Drama so that the network could focus on the main channel and the streaming channel.

Currently, it is not hard to imagine that the network is giving up on mysteries. This month, there was only one mystery premiere, The Jane Mysteries: A Deadly Prescription, starring Jodie Sweetin and Stephen Huszar. Normally, this would be fine, except this movie premiered on the streaming channel in September. This means Sleuthers who subscribe didn’t get anything new to watch. Moreover, the network has not yet renewed what many consider the best thing that Hallmark has ever made.

The Network Has Still Not Renewed Mistletoe Murders Season 2

Hallmark Media has been slow to renew anything on the rebranded streaming channel Hallmark+. The network did manage to renew Finding Mr. Christmas. However, they have not yet renewed the fantastic Chrismysterey Mistletoe Murders.

This series is based on the Audible Original and stars Sarah Drew, Peter Mooney, and Sierra Marilyn Riley. It seems likely that this was Lisa Hamilton Daly’s project. Best of all, the showrunner is Ken Cuperus. He created the series and the enigmatic Emily Lane. Many podcasters consider this the best mystery or series that the network has ever made.

Sleuthers certainly hope that this will not be another Mystery 101 debacle. In addition, many would like the fun Canadian detective series The Spencer Sisters starring Lea Thompson and Stacey Farber to also be renewed. But, it does not seem like the network has made any decisions on any of their Hallmark+ series.

Sleuthers, are you concerned that Hallmark will end mysteries now that Lisa Hamilton Daly’s position has been eliminated?
