With the recent Los Angeles wildfires, many shows have been impacted, often halting their production. It’s recently been announced that Jeopardy! is the latest such series to be affected. Notably, this also impacts a popular event on the game show.

A Statement Was Issued To Jeopardy! Attendees

Jeopardy! has aired in some form since at least 1964. Currently, the long-running game show is in its 41st season.

The series, which films at Sony’s lot in Culver City, was set to shoot episodes this upcoming Wednesday and Friday. However, news has come out that both shootings will be rescheduled.

At this time, it is unclear just when the series will resume production. However, the next shooting date was planned for January 27.

The U.S. Sun also noted that a statement was given to those who purchased tickets for the event. As it read, “Due to the severe weather conditions and out of an abundance of caution and safety for all, all of next week’s Jeopardy show tapings have unfortunately been canceled.”

“This tournament will likely move; however, we have not been given any information about new dates as of yet. We do hope to see you in the future at a taping of Jeopardy! We apologize for the inconvenience, but hope everyone stays safe.”

As the publication later noted, Wheel of Fortune, which also films on the same Culver City lot, has also been impacted. A source also released the following statement, “Every Wheel and Jeopardy taping has been canceled this week.”

One Of The Show’s Upcoming Tournaments Was Previously Expected To Shoot During This Time

The source also touched on the tournaments. As they noted, “The current tournaments will be delayed and air dates will be delayed. There are no new dates set in place yet but everyone is actively doing as much as they can.”

Notably, the Invitational Tournament taping was scheduled during the canceled shootings. During this event, past champions and fan-favorite contestants are invited to compete for a grand prize, which could include a chance to further compete in the Jeopardy! Masters 2024 tournament.

The episodes were expected to air some time in late February and early March. However, it remains to be seen how the recent news will affect the delays. Notably, the Culver City lot is just south of the Pacific Palisades, where 40,000 acres of land have been burned.

As previously reported, various shows, both scripted and unscripted have been impacted by the recent wildfires, often canceling shows and delaying production.

As noted by The Washington Post, at least 24 people are confirmed to have died from the fires. With thousands of people having been displaced and thousands of buildings destroyed, the fire is considered one of the most destructive in the area’s history.
