Hearties Think New ‘WCTH’ Star Miranda MacDougall Looks Like Kayla Wallace
Hearties met Lucas Bouchard’s possible love interest Edie Martel in the second episode of of WCTH entitled “You Get What You Give.” The actress portraying her is Miranda MacDougall. Hearties are welcoming this new character with many saying she looks a lot like Kayla Wallace who portrayed Fiona Miller.

On Sunday, WCTH Season 12 episode “You Get What You Give,” Hearties got their first look at Governor Lucas Bouchard’s potential new love interest, Edie Martel. Portrayed by Miranda MacDougall, she is a modern woman who is as smart as a whip. She is an attorney that just inherited her uncle’s cattle ranch near Hope Valley. Now, she is sparring with Lucas.
On Reddit, Hearties talked about Edie. Firstly, several think she looks a lot like Kayla Wallace. One fan wrote, “Doesn’t new Lucas love interest look like she could be Kayla’s cousin?”
They continued, “I took a double take with the actress Miranda MacDougall and she looks a lot like Kayla Wallace–could be her cousin she looks so similar. Both are lovely women. Maybe it is me…but isn’t it kinda…weird that they cast like this? Or maybe it was intentional?” Most of the comments agreed, although one did not.

As Kayla Wallace has hinted that she may be popping up in When Calls The Heart Season 12, it seems possible that Fiona and Edie could be cousins. This sort of resemblance could have got the writing room interested in a fun meetup between the two characters.
Edie Martel Will Intellectually Challenge Lucas Bouchard
At the Hallmark Christmas Experience, Chris McNally was asked if his character would have a romance in WCTH Season 12. He hinted that he would be intellectually challenged by a Hope Valley newcomer, which is something that Lucas had not experienced in a long time.
This led to a lot of chuckles, as Erin Krakow was also in that panel. But, Team Lucas fans certainly enjoyed this slight barb to her Elizabeth Thornton character.
