‘Today’ Hoda Kotb Breaks Down In Tears After Special Reunion
Hoda Kotb is getting very emotional this week since it is her last to be a host on The Today Show. This Friday is her final appearance, and it is expected that everyone will be crying throughout the episode as she says her goodbyes. However, there was a surprise guest on the show last week that she had no idea was coming, and it had her in tears.
Here is a look at who showed up to see Hoda before she left the show and why it was so emotional for her.
A Father & Daughter Surprise Hoda Kotb On The Today Show
Hoda Kotb, 60, ends her run on The Today Show on Friday, January 10, after working as a co-anchor for seven years with Savanna Guthrie. Many celebrities have stopped in to say goodbye, and more are coming on her final episode. However, what Hoda didn’t expect was for two guests to come who were not celebrities at all.
In 2017, a woman named Erin Ludwig died after batting breast cancer. Hoda had developed a strong bond with her before she died, and it was an emotional moment for the host. However, she was shocked and in tears when The Today Show introduced her next guests. Erin Ludwig’s husband and two daughters showed up to talk to Hoda.
Hoda began crying and said, “Wow, wow, wow” as she hugged the little girls. They then spoke about Erin and her life and courageous battle.
“I can’t believe this moment happened. You guys, I can’t, I don’t know how to say thank you,” she said to the 13 and 10-year-old girls. She then said she couldn’t wait to tell her own little girls about these two girls. “I’ll do that tonight too. And so you said the bears (are) on your bed right now? OK, well, the (bears) will be on their bed tonight too.”
What Is Next For Hoda Kotb After The Today Show?
Hoda Kotb said this week that she plans to make a big career move this spring. Hoda said that she plans to move into the wellness space. She plans to start an app, a podcast, and do some work to help people feel better. She mentioned starting retreats as well.
Hoda Kotb is also likely to return to NBC for special events. There are many people who think she will become a special interviewer of the stars with Primetime interviews in her future. However, she has yet to speak on those plans other than to say she is still part of the NBC family.
