Jimmy Kimmel Halts Production During L.A. Wildfires
The Los Angeles wildfires are destroying people’s homes, and it is devastating the entire area. With the raging fires and the destruction it leaves in its wake, there are several TV shows that have halted production until things are safe once again. These shows include Jimmy Kimmel’s nighttime talk show and scripted series like Grey’s Anatomy and Abbott Elementary.
Here is what you need to know about how the wildfire is affecting Hollywood.
Jimmy Kimmel & More Halt Production During Wildfires
Television executives have ordered a halting of shows as the Los Angeles wildfires continue to destroy homes and lives in Los Angeles. This means that production has stopped on Jimmy Kimmel Live and several scripted television shows that are currently filming.
Fires have destroyed many homes in what some call the worst fire in Los Angeles history (via The U.S. Sun). According to reports, Paris Hilton, John Goodman, Miles Teller, Anthony Hopkins, and Billy Crystal have all lost their homes to the wildfires. As people lose everything, Hollywood halted the production of several shows.
ABC (Disney) halted production on Grey’s Anatomy, Doctor Odyssey, and Jimmy Kimmel Live. CBS has stopped production on NCIS, NCIS: Origins, After Midnight, Poppas House, and The Neighborhood. Amazon postponed shooting on Fallout Season 2. NBC put a hold on Hacks, Suits: LA, Loot, and Happy’s Place.
“The LA County Fire Department has specifically instructed that all permits issued for filming in the communities of Altadena, La Crescenta, La Canada/Flintridge and unincorporated Pasadena are withdrawn,” FilmLA reported.
What Is The Status Of The Los Angeles Wildfires?
At least 10 people have died in the Los Angeles wildfires, and officials say the total will remain unknown until investigators can access the neighborhoods. Tens of thousands of people remain affected since the evacuation orders came in (via CNN).
Meanwhile, Governor Newsom sent out the California National Guard to ensure looting wouldn’t happen while people have fled their homes for their safety. “To those who would seek to take advantage of evacuated communities, let me be clear: looting will not be tolerated,” Newsom said.
That is just the start as the fires rage across Los Angeles. However, there is some good news. The Hurst Fire, which has been raging since Tuesday, is now more than one-third contained. While a lot of people (rich and poor) have lost their homes and everything they own, California is fighting the fire and is starting to see progress.
As of Thursday night, the Palisades Fire was 6% contained, the Kenneth Fire was 35% contained, the Lidia Fire was 75% contained, and the Hurst Fire was 37% contained. Sadly, the Eaton Fire was still 0% contained.
