Wendy Williams’ Brother Selling ‘Free Wendy’ Merchandise

Wendy Williams has recently retired from public life following the TV personality’s various health concerns. In the ongoing stories concerning her guardianship, one of Williams’ family members has recently gotten involved, complete with merchandise. Williams’ brother Tommy recently spoke out about his sister in a recent video.

Tommy Talked About His Sister Wendy Williams’ Florida Appearance

Williams is known for hosting her own namesake talk show, The Wendy Williams Show, from 2008 to 2021. However, health issues caused her to take breaks from her show, starting in 2018, concluding the show by 2022.

In 2023, Williams was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. Around this time, the star was also placed within a guardianship, with Sabrina Morrissey serving as her guardian.

Williams’ younger brother Tommy recently spoke about his sister’s condition, and her guardianship, in a recent conversation with The U.S. Sun. Notably, he talked about the recent appearance she made in Florida to see her son Kevin Hunter Jr.’s college graduation.

As Tommy noted, “I’m very happy with the time that I spent with Wendy. I’m looking forward to future times, and ultimately, looking forward to her moving down here soon.”

“That’s something that’s been in my heart and her heart, and we know that everything’s going to work itself through. And I have no doubt in my mind that it’s going to happen, and it’s going to happen in a good time and not a long, long time.”

“We remain faithful that everything’s going to be alright…Wendy’s a great person and…I know that great things are going to still occur for her in the great deal of life she has ahead of her.

Tommy felt that a move to Florida would greatly improve his sister’s health. As he noted, “It’s sunny down here, and it’s great Vitamin D, and all the things Wendy needs.”

That said, Tommy claims that he’s already seen great improvements in Wendy’s well-being, including her “conversations, dialog, and spirits.” As he put it, “It’s a complete 180. She looks great, she sounds fantastic, beyond the old Wendy.”

As the publication noted, Tommy seeks to free Wendy from her guardianship. He’s also come up with an interesting idea to raise awareness: merchandise. This includes things from tees to coffee mugs reading “Free Wendy.”

Describing the project as “a knee-jerk idea early on,” Tommy admitted life got in the way, causing the merchandise to get shelved. However, he felt the news of Wendy’s Florida visit could make a release all the more timely.

As Tommy shared, “When I made them, I had them made with deliberation. I’m gonna do this, and I’m riding with my family.”

“It was this visit, and the realities of, ‘Hey we got a pulse, the world got a pulse of Wendy.’ It wasn’t because of me, it was because of her coming down [to Florida]. It was all positive and that big bump right there and I guess it was the media, social media and everything.

“It’s an opportunity, and it’s golden for us to do one thing that’s going to give people a choice if you want to support Wendy. Here’s how you can do it: T-shirts and mugs to represent your feelings.”
