‘Bachelor’ Producers Made Big Change Prior To Grant Ellis Casting
Bachelor producers made a big change before Grant Ellis was cast as the new lead. The point of their change was to help ensure a better outcome. What did they do? Keep reading to find out more.
Producers Made A Change To Grant Ellis’ Season Of The Bachelor
The Bachelor producers made a big change prior to Grant Ellis’ season of the show kicking off filming. In the past, the new lead wasn’t usually announced until the After the Final Rose special. At that point, a majority of the casting for the new season had been completed.
However, this time production chose to go a different route in hopes of having a better outcome for the show. Grant was sent home right before hometowns. Usually, the new lead is also chosen from the final three or four. He finished 5th. So, nobody really saw it coming when he was announced as the new lead shortly after his elimination.
Many have questioned why producers would do this. The answer is simple. The producers wanted to give Grant a good chance at truly finding a lasting connection with someone. So, by announcing his identity early, women were still able to sign up and try to date him.
Knowing who it was eliminated the guessing game about which lucky man they would be meeting on night one. After announcing Grant was the new Bachelor, the show received more than 10,000 applications. It’s yet to be seen if their new attempt worked. Fans will have to wait and find out if one of the applicants is Grant’s future bride.
What Prompted The Change?
Nobody knows for sure what prompted this change from the show. However, many fans think the decision to announce The Bachelor at the Men Tell All possibly could have something to do with Jenn Tran.
It was a shock to many when Daisy Kent and Maria Georgas were not announced as The Bachelorette. Everyone was quite stunned when it seemed Jenn Tran was chosen at the last minute. She seemed to face that same fate again when she was announced for Dancing With the Stars at the last minute as well.
Since there were so many men in Jenn’s season who admitted they thought it would be someone else, producers wanted to avoid that drama with Grant and get women who really wanted to be there for him.
