Viewers first met Grant as a contestant on Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette. Fans were surprised by the choice for the next Bachelor. Grant didn’t make much of an impression on Jenn and was sent home in Week 6, right before Hometown Dates. He will be the second Black Bachelor after Matt James.

ABC took to Instagram with an announcement on the Bachelor season premiere. They shared a clip featuring Grant asking the franchise-favorite question, “Can I steal you for a second?” He said that he had an important date for fans before opening the coveted date card with the premiere date.

Season 29 of The Bachelor premieres on Monday, January 27, 2025. Grant’s season is reportedly cut short because of ABC’s coverage of the Final Four college basketball tournament.

Fans Excited, But Reserved

The Bachelor Nation franchise was hit hard with multiple scandals in recent years. Golden Bachelor stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s quickie divorce caused some fans to stop believing in love. Shocking details came out about restraining orders against Jenn Tran’s Bachelorette winner, Devin Strader, and multiple contestants on Joan Vassos’ season of The Golden Bachelorette.

Fans took to the comments on the Instagram post to express their reservations about Grant’s season. They were all in on Grant as The Bachelor, but weren’t happy with the quality of the promos featuring him or the lack of background checks.

  • “i’m so excited for Grant 🥺(y’all still needa address the flimsy background checks tho🙂)”
  • “now what is this … not abc setting grant up AGAIN with these promos”
  • “why is the quality of this promo so bad? Put more into promoting POC.”
  • “I see he’s getting the Katie Thurston treatment with these promos-yikes! Also y’all still haven’t addressed the restraining orders from your last two seasons!”
  • “Why is it so blurry? A lot of his promos are.”
  • “Why is this lovely man still not getting any production value in the posts about him?!”

Do you think Grant’s season of The Bachelor will be a success like Joey Graziadei’s or a mess like Jenn Tran’s Bachelorette season? Sound off in the comments.

  1. Everybody seems to be looking for love in this new amoral societal climate that is a desert of love; but are people looking for love, or are they looking for an opportunity to display their inability to love. Based on lab relsults of people looking for love in society, it would seem as if they only want it when they don’t have it; love is valuable as long as it is not theirs. Look at what the guy who dumped Jenn di:. He loved her as long as she did not belong to him. In a world where l ove has been cheapened and devalued, it has become a foaming glass of tears, where much effort is made to get it and just as much to walk away from it. If these ideas resonate with you , the book, “Mysterious Connections” will shed even more light on finding love that lasts forever. And whatever you do, never stop reading; for reading is life, and life is reading.
