Terry Crews Releases Video Amid Death Hoax
Actor and television personality Terry Crews has become the subject of a recent viral hoax, claiming he passed away. However, the story was debunked after the star released a recent video on Instagram. Notably, Crews isn’t the only star to have become the recent subject of a death hoax.
It’s Unclear Just What Started The Terry Crews Death Rumors
Crews was a football player before breaking into an acting career. For many, his breakout role was playing the family patriarch, Julius, on the sitcom Everybody Hates Chris, from 2005 to 2009. He is also known for playing Terry Jeffords on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Crews is also known for his work in various reality shows, even starring in his own reality series, The Family Crews. He is also known for his hosting duties on America’s Got Talent and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
Recently, however, as noted by Monsters & Critics, Crews has been the subject of a viral rumor claiming he had passed away. As the publication noted, it was unclear just where this rumor came from.
However, it was noted there was some speculation it originated as a Facebook rumor. That said, despite no credible news outlets confirming it, the rumor still went viral.
While Crews himself hasn’t directly addressed these rumors, the America’s Got Talent host still indirectly debunked it with a recent video shared on social media. At this time, it is unclear if he was aware of the rumor.
Crews Also Made A Recent Appearance At The Rose Parade
In one recent post, Crews shared a video for fans with the start of the new year. In the video, Crews could be seen living his life, complete with appearances from his hosting job on America’s Got Talent.
As the caption read, “So many blessings in 2024!!! Feeling thankful, grateful, and energized for an amazing 2025. Love y’all!!!!!” The post was also notably shared through an Instagram Story.

In another recent post, Crews shared that he made a public appearance during the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day. As he shared in the caption, “Beautiful morning making our way through downtown Pasadena during the [Rose Parade]!!” In the accompanying video, he could be seen in a car with the Mayor of Pasadena, Victor Gordo.
As Monsters & Critics noted, Crews is not the only celebrity to be the subject of a death hoax this past year. Other figures included Steve Harvey, Mark Henry, and Serena Williams.
