‘Gold Rush’ Rick Ness Sees Season Turn Around With Big Payday
Rick Ness made his triumphant return to Gold Rush last season, and fans rejoiced in having all experienced miners on the show again. However, this season has been a hard one for the veteran miner. It all comes down to regulations and Ness’s inability to secure a new water license for his claim, which is getting in the way of him making his goals.
However, in the most recent episode, Ness finally starts to see more good looks, and it seems he is turning things around. Here is what you need to know.
Rick Ness Gets Big Payday At Rally Valley on Gold Rush
Rick Ness has struggled all this season on Gold Rush. However, in the eighth and ninth episodes of the season, things started to turn around for the gold miner. This is all thanks to a big payday at Rally Valley, which has helped him start to make some money, which he had to do to keep his operation active.
After three days of slicing, Rick finally hit more gold. He added over 300 more ounces to his 1,500-ounce season goal. This means he is one step closer to a breakthrough that could turn his season around.
The crew dug 160 feet into the Rally Valley cut, and water began to threaten his operations. They kept on and moved their working pump to drain the cut. Thanks to a 700 excavator, they moved on, and it all worked out. Monster Red processed 181.87 ounces of gold worth $454,000.
Rick Ness Still Stressing About Duncan Creek Water License
However, while Rick Ness is doing well at Ralley Valley, he is still stressing out about getting his water license approved for Duncan Creek. The government rejected the permit, saying his expectations for the claim were unrealistic. He put a lot of money into this claim, so he will lose a fortune if he can’t change their minds.
The Yukon Water Board rejected his application, and when he resubmitted it, they rejected it a second time. They feel his operation plans are not feasible. Rick feels he can still get it accepted, but he has to make some changes to show that he can pull off his goals. If he doesn’t, he could lose his entire company.
The water license at Duncan Creek expires on April 8, 2025. That license was from the previous owners, and Rick needs to find a way to get it renewed. He only has limited time to address the concerns before it expires in just three short months.
