The Second Chance Tournament allows contestant with high scores who didn’t win the game to get a second chance. Over the years, the amount of episodes and contestants involved in the tournament hasn’t always been consistent.

As noted by The U.S. Sun, the series recently revealed that it would be making a change, to both the tournament and the original show. During the Second Chance Tournament this week, Jennings debuted a new set of Jeopardy! letters.

On Instagram, the series teased fans that this might not be the last they see of these letters. In the post, a video appeared with a fan’s comment reading, “Looks nice. Wish those Jeopardy! letter hanging on the ceiling made its way to the regular show, too.” The video’s caption notably shared, “Two steps ahead of you, my friend.”

One Fan Shared What They Think Would Be A Good Tribute To Alex Trebek

The original commenter who suggested the change even wrote, “Wow didn’t expect you guys to respond to me with a reel!! Loving the Jeopardy! letters above Ken Jennings.”

One fan also wrote, “The show is timeless, and the new host is pretty cool.” Another dubbed earlier color-changing letters as “iconic,” and asked to bring it back as a “permanent” change as a possible tribute to Alex Trebek.

Beforehand, the series’ Instagram page had promoted the upcoming Second Chance Tournament with an earlier video on Instagram. In the accompanying video, Jennings jokingly performed old trends, suggesting they also could use a “second chance.”

The new feature is a callback to the set’s 1990s design, which was changed in 2002. During that period, large letters appeared behind host Alex Trebek on a red screen.
