‘Cat Woman’ Jocelyn Wildenstein’s Net Worth After Shocking Death
Swiss socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein has passed away this past Tuesday. Known for her affluent lifestyle and extensive use of cosmetic surgery, Wildenstein was at one point believed to be one of the wealthiest women in the United States. Since her passing, there has been speculation over her net worth at the time of her death.
Jocelyn Wildenstein Passed Away On New Year’s Eve
This past Tuesday, on New Year’s Eve, Wildenstein suffered a pulmonary embolism, leading to her death. It was believed that she died in her sleep at a Paris hotel. She was believed to be 84 at the time of her death.
Wildenstein was born as Jocelyne Périsset in Lausanne, Switzerland. There are conflicting reports as to the year of her birth, although various media outlets believed it was 1940. Her father worked in a sporting goods store while her mother was a housewife.
Entering the life of a socialite, some of Wildenstein’s early relationships were with figures like film producer Cyril Piguet and filmmaker Sergio Gobbi. She later met French-born American billionaire Alec N. Wildenstein in 1977. Reportedly, as noted by the Arizona Daily Star, the heir was impressed by her hunting skills after tagging along on a hunting trip.
The two eloped in Las Vegas in 1978, eventually having two children together. However, the two would eventually divorce in 1999.
During their time together, the couple allegedly had an admiration for cats. Jocelyn would soon become known for her use of extensive cosmetic surgery. The cat-like appearance gained by these procedures caused her to be dubbed “Catwoman” and “The Lion Queen” by the media.
The Socialite Declared Bankruptcy In 2018
Notably, during her divorce procedures, a judge stipulated that she couldn’t use her alimony payments for cosmetic surgery. Over the years, however, Jocelyn claimed stories of her undergoing procedures were exaggerated, attributing her appearance to genetics.
At the time of her divorce, she secured a settlement of £2 billion, with £80 million a year in maintenance. She also owned three apartments in the Trump Tower. It’s believed this made her one of the wealthiest women in America at the time.

However, in 2018, Jocelyn ended up declaring bankruptcy, with her luxury apartments being repossessed. A few years following her divorce, she also started a relationship with fashion designer Lloyd Klein. Prior to her death, the two were seen together on holiday in Paris in December 2024.
All of this had many wondering where Jocelyn’s net worth was at during the time of her death. As the media outlet Celebrity Net Worth noted, in life, her net worth was estimated to be around $500 million for many years. At the time of her death, however, her net worth was believed to be $1 million.
