Mike Tyson Opens Up About Losing Jake Paul Fight
Back in November, prolific boxer Mike Tyson made headlines with his match with Jake Paul. The influencer turned boxer ultimately won the fight against “Iron Mike” during the Netflix-streamed event. Since then, Tyson has recently opened up about his feelings following the fight.
Mike Tyson Described The Event As ‘Such A Big Ascent’
News of a boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul first came out in 2023. Initially, the fight was set for July but was delayed due to Tyson suffering an ulcer flare-up.
The fight, which was made available for streaming on Netflix, eventually took place on November 15, 2024, at the AT&T Stadium in Texas. The 58-year-old Tyson ultimately lost to the 27-year-old Paul.
As noted by People, Tyson appeared on the Fox Sports Radio show Covino & Rich earlier this month. During the appearance, he opened about the recent loss.
“That fight was such a big ascent — we were so up and high, we were so excited. The fight’s over, boom. Wow, I’m kind of depressed a little bit. We got to get back … to living. [We were] training for it nine months.”
Tyson also admitted, “I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out a little.”
“I remember coming back from the first round and Jake is doing some kind of…I don’t know what he was doing. And that’s the last thing I remember.”
Mike Tyson Also Touched On A Viral Moment From A Pre-Fight Interview
The famous boxer also shared a question he gave his wife, Lakiha Spicer, “The day after I woke up and said to my wife, ‘Why did I do that?’ I just don’t know what the hell was going on.”
Tyson also noted how his body felt after the fight. He shared, “I don’t remember it, but my body was really sore — my chest, my stomach was really sore.”
In addition, Tyson also touched on a pre-fight interview that sparked an internet meme after it shared an image of his bare bottom. A description for the interview on YouTube even referred to the moment as Tyson “mooning the world.”
Tyson noted, “Television has really changed. That became a big thing. He said the meme was “just so ridiculous” and “not important,” adding, “I’ve been that way my whole career, my butt’s been showing.”
