‘WCTH’ Alum Kayla Wallace Surprised ‘Landman’ Costar Is A Heartie
At the time WCTH alum Kayla Wallace got her role on Taylor Sheridan’s new series Landman, she was in awe of the well-known talents she would act with. However, when one Academy Award winning-star told her that he was a Heartie, she admits she was quite surprised.
Who is that star and what does she have to say about the fandom of the long-running Hallmark series?
Kayla Wallace Shares An Unexpected Heartie Starring In Landman
When Kayla Wallace stepped on the set of Landman, she knew she wasn’t in Hope Valley anymore. However, the WCTH alum quickly found out that her co-star, the multi-talented Billy Bob Thornton was a Heartie. The Feeling Butterflies star told People Magazine that on the first day of the set, he told her that he watched When Calls The Heart.
The 31-year-old Wallace shared, “That’s the first thing he says to me.” Then she continued. “It was a really sweet story. I guess his mom loved the show, and he would watch it with her. So it definitely made me see him as the kind of human that he is and not this guy on a billboard, Billy Bob Thornton.”
After confessing that this “definitely broke the ice,” Kayla recalled how special that first meeting was with Thornton. “that first interaction was so special, and it was just so cool to hear. Oh my gosh, I was like, ‘No, no. I know stuff that you are on.’ This is backward.”
Billy Bob Thornton is not your typical Heartie, but she admitted, “It just goes to show that a show like that can just reach a vast audience.”
Landman Is WCTH Alum’s ‘Dream Job’
Although Hearties love and miss Kayla Wallace, she admits this new series Landman is her “dream job.” She is working with the prestigious Yellowstone creator, Taylor Sheridan. She gushed, “This is a dream job. I feel so lucky to be a part of this project.” She also appreciates the storytelling.
Landman is based on the Boomtown podcast. This is about the East Texas oil industry. But Kayla warns, it is about so much more, as she shares, “you just don’t think you’re going to get hit with family and heartbreak and loss, and all of these crazy themes that are just so relatable to the everyday person.”
Of course, comfort show WCTH certainly has many of these elements. These are all stories of the human experience.
Kayla Wallace fans can see her on Landman, which drops on Sundays, on Paramount+.
