Katy Perry Returning To Reality TV, But It’s Not ‘American Idol’
Katy Perry is returning to reality competition television as a judge, but is not returning to American Idol. Katy left Idol to concentrate on releasing her new album and going on tour. However, she will take a quick break to head to one of the most popular reality TV shows when she takes a spot as a guest judge on its season premiere.
Here is where Katy is showing up next and what it means for her future.
Katy Perry Returning To Reality TV In January 2025
Katy Perry has announced that she will be returning to reality TV. As most viewers who have been following her are aware, she left American Idol to work on her other projects. However, it looks like she got the itch to go back to something similar.
Perry will be a guest host on the RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17 premiere. This episode will air on MTV on Friday, January 3, 2025. “She ate, she chewed, she swallowed,” Katy said in the promo teaser for the premiere. She was talking about a performance that wasn’t shown in the teaser (via YouTube).
This is Katy Perry’s first time to appear on RuPaul’s Drag Race. She did feature some RuPaul queens in a Saturday Night Live performance of “Swish, Swish,” as well as in her Las Vegas residency.
Katy is just one of several A-list stars who have appeared as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Other notable singers who appear on the show include Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Lizzo, and Ariana Grande.
There have also been other stars who appeared on the show as judges. This includes names like Sandra Bernhard, Adam Lambert, Whitney Cummings, and Sam Smith. RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley, Ross Mathews, and Ts Madison will all return as judges this season.
