‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Executives Annoyed With Ryan Seacrest Holding ‘Control’
Wheel Of Fortune host, Ryan Seacrest may be new to the show, but this isn’t his first rodeo. Ryan has been in the entertainment industry for decades. Now, he is annoying his bosses with his insistence on keeping the “control.”
Ryan Seacrest Is A Catch
Although Wheel Of Fortune is a new venture for Ryan Seacrest, he isn’t doing too shabby. Notably, it hasn’t exactly gone off without a hitch, but he is making strides as the new host. Although he is still getting his footing under him with the Wheel, he has years of experience with other shows. For instance, he has been hosting American Idol since June 2002. Likewise, he has a long-running radio show. Furthermore, radio was his segway into TV from the start. Additionally, many fans know him from his time on Live With Kelly And Ryan. With his history in negotiations, he is giving Wheel executives a hard time. As they attempt to “lock in” his commitment, he struggles to release control.
Wheel Of Fortune Executives Annoyed With Ryan Seacrest Holding ‘Control’
While Wheel Of Fortune executives seem to be pleased with the ratings since Ryan Seacrest joined the show, there is a bit of concern. Initially, Ryan entered into a short-term contract. Most likely, this was to protect the network from a debacle like Jeopardy! faced when replacing legendary host, Alex Trebek. But now that ratings are increasing, WOF wants to nail down a new contract.
However, Ryan is in a very busy time of his life. Not only is he hosting American Idol, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, and in line for the Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune gig, but he also is preparing for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special. Furthermore, he is an investor and producer. Undeniably, it is hard to squeeze much more into his schedule. However, the executives want to refocus him exclusively on WOF. Although his bosses see him as the future, Ryan is still playing the field and holding all the “control.”
Wheel Of Fortune Wants Him To Limit Outside Commitments
An insider revealed to Closer Weekly that Ryan Seacrest is a tough guy to pin down. With his years of negotiation experience, he isn’t going to make it easy. The source said, “Ryan’s always been successful at pretty much everything he’s touched, hosting, producing, his clothing line, charities, and even cooking.” Likewise, ratings have been at their highest in five years. However, the insider adds, “The powers that be over at Wheel of Fortune don’t want him stretched to the limit and want his full and undivided attention on the show.”
Seemingly, the showrunners will accept his continuation with Idol, “It’s okay he hosts American Idol” since they can’t change it. However, they are ready for a big commitment from Ryan Seacrest. The source says, “They want him to scale down his other endeavors and tie him up in a binding contract.” Reportedly, Pat Sajak’s time commitment to the show was very minimal which gave him options to pursue other passions.
Ryan Seacrest Enjoys His Freedom
But the bosses are getting antsy. The insider adds, “They see Ryan as the future, but Ryan’s not the kind of guy to lock in and sign here.” Ryan Seacrest likes being somewhat of a free agent. They add, “He wants freedom and control and refuses to be pigeon-holed, and his obstinate stance is driving bosses crazy.” Unmistakably, Ryan likes to pursue new ventures. He even wrote a book, The Make-Believers, with his sister, Meredith Seacrest Leach. His charismatic personality likes to keep options open to explore.
