Liz Wilcox Calls Teeny’s ‘Survivor’ Blowup A ‘Liberating’ Moment
There was a huge moment on Survivor 47 when a normally quiet competitor exploded in an emotional scene. Teeny Chirichillo was not happy when she was left out of the reward on a recent episode. However, while she exploded and said some things that shocked viewers, a former contestant completely understood the entire situation.
Here is what Liz Wilcox said about Teeny’s explosive moment and why it was liberating for her to make these comments.
Teeny Chirichillo Blows Up On Survivor 47
The Survivor 47 Final 7 all competed for a big meal of Italian food. Sam Phalen won the Reward Challenge and had to choose two people to join him for the feast. Those two people ended up being Andy Rueda and Genevieve Mushaluk. The ones who didn’t get to eat were Rachel LaMont, Caroline Vidmar, Sue Smey, and Teeny.
Teeny was the one who was most bothered and she lashed out on the way back to camp. She then blew up about Sam. She said she wanted him booted out at the next Tribal Council. For her credit, she didn’t say this to Sam, but everything is being filmed, so the audience at home heard it all.
Teeny about this moment after the episode aired. “PHEW! Thank god I took that minute so I didn’t say anything I would regret,” Teeny said (via X). One person who responded to her had a similar moment on a past season. Liz Wilcox responded, “Been there, friend. Been THERE.”
In Survivor 46, Liz was also up for a big dinner in a contest. However, she lost out on it, and she also exploded about the situation. Her chance was for Applebees, which had special meaning for her and her family.
Liz Wilcox Says These Survivor Moments Are ‘Liberating’
Liz Wilcox also said there is nothing wrong with having these moments – even on a show like Survivor. She said it is actually a liberating moment for a person.
PHEW! Thank god I took that minute so I didn’t say anything I would regret 😁 #Survivor47

“It was the most liberating moment of my life and I’m so glad it was #1)—filmed and #2) that I can be an example of a healthy expression of anger,” Liz posted about the blowup. She said she has no regrets. “I have had so many people reach out and thank me for showing them that it’s ok to be p****d off when bad things happen to you” (via Monsters & Critics).
She said that “dozens of people” have said that moment changed their lives. She said that it showed them that they can explode when away from others and then have a chance to come back stronger.
