Shocking Way Blake Shelton Won Gwen Stefani’s Heart
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton may be thick as thieves these days, and happy in their marriage, but, there’s a shocking way that Blake finally won Gwen over. So, what did he do to officially win her heart?
Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton Met At A Rough Point
As longtime fans know, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton met and hit it off when they were both coaches on The Voice in 2014. The pair were both going through some high-profile splits. Stefani was moving on from Gavin Rossdale, and Blake was moving on from his situation with Miranda Lambert.
While the pair bonded over what they were both going through, Gwen Stefani recently said that there was a moment when she put a stop to the budding relationship she found herself having with Blake. Stefani said: “There was a point where I was like, ‘I can’t even talk to you. This is insane. I already have enough problems. This is not happening anymore. We’re not going to text or nothing.”
Shocking Way Blake Shelton Won Gwen Over
Even though there was a point when Gwen Stefani completely put a stop to the growing connection she had with Blake at the time, luckily for the pair of them, the country singer did not give up. According to Gwen, it was music that ultimately brought them back together.
Blake reached out to her with a song that he had not finished yet, asking for her input. Apparently, this was the thing he needed to get back into her life, and it was clearly the right move given where they are now in their relationship.
Gwen said: “He sent it to me, and it was a half-written song. He was like, ‘Help me finish this.’ So I wrote him the verse back — the second verse on the song — and it’s just over text. That was our first song that we ever wrote together. We were never even in the same room, but we were writing a song to each other.”
That song would eventually become “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.”
Music Still Brings Gwen And Blake Together Today
All these years later, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton still regularly collaborate on music. Fans are often eager for each and every duet that they release, and this was seen with their most recent offering, “Purple Irises.”
Speaking more about the songwriting process and the song that Blake asked for her help with, Gwen added: “I think he really wanted to impress me, because he doesn’t really write songs as much as he used to. And I love writing songs. That’s everything to me. If I want to feel like I have any kind of purpose or any kind of value or anything, it’s about writing a song. That’s where I get my fulfillment.”
Clearly, Blake Shelton’s master plan worked in the end.
