Why Did NBC Cut ‘America’s Got Talent’ Star’s Performance?
America’s Got Talent fans who tuned in to the Thanksgiving Day NFL game between the Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins left disappointed. AGT fan favorite Lindsey Stirling performed at halftime of the big Primetime NFL game. However, NBC cut out almost all of her performance from the broadcast.
Here is what you need to know about NBC’s decision to cut the star’s performance from its game broadcast.
NBC Cuts Lindsey Stirling’s Thanksgiving Day Performance
The Green Bay Packers invited America’s Got Talent alumni Lindsey Stirling to perform at halftime of their Thanksgiving Day game against the Miami Dolphins. Since the performance occurred at the outdoor Green Bay stadium in November, the weather has always been a concern, and it was freezing out that night.
Despite that, Lindsey performed her entire halftime performance for fans in attendance. However, AGT fans who tuned in to the show only saw a few seconds of the performance. Lindsey performed a six-minute performance for the fans. She then took her Instagram account to thank her fans.
“Thank you so much to the @packers for having us and for treating us like queens! Thank you to all the Green Bay fans for being so enthusiastic during our performance. It was a night I’ll never forget- my first stadium performance,” Lindsey wrote. “Sorry to all my fans who tuned in to watch and didn’t get to see it. I appreciate all the posts of support.”
Why Did NBC Cut America’s Got Talent Star’s Performance?
There are often halftime performances at NFL games. However, during halftime, the networks mostly have the analysts talk about the games, plays, and what to expect. There are also television commercials and more. Rarely, if ever, do the games show the halftime performances that are mostly for the fans in attendance.

Sometimes, when the stars are big (like Dolly Parton), the network will show more of the performance. However, Lindsey’s fans had a little to say about the omission:
- “Not ballin of NBC to not show it but still a huge W for you and your team and your fans across the globe. Guess you’re just gonna have to do the Superbowl next.”
- “NBC – Nothing But Commercials…….so sad. At least it looks like the Packers treated you all really well with the suite and all.”
- “Was really sad I couldn’t see it live but I’m glad you got to perform for everyone at the game!”

I don’t think that’s fair. Other performers that night got screen time at their half time shows, so it should make sense to show her.
