‘DOOL’ Peyton Meyer Carries On Doug Williams’ Legacy In New Role
Actor Peyton Meyer is about to make his debut into the world of soap operas. Set to join Days of Our Lives, Meyer will help to honor a beloved character and actor from the series. The actor also recently shared what it was like joining the soap, giving a few hints about his character.
Peyton Meyer Will Play A New Character With A Familiar Name
Meyer started his career as a child actor, appearing in various Disney Channel projects. Notably, he appeared as Lucas Friar on Girl Meets World. He also notably had the recurring role of Trip Windsor on American Housewife.
It’s recently been announced that Meyer will join the cast of Days of Our Lives. While he will be playing a new character, Meyer’s new role already comes with a lot of legacy attached.
Meyer is set to play Doug Williams III, the grandson of his late namesake, Doug Williams. The elder Williams was famously played by the late Bill Hayes, who passed away towards the start of the year.
As noted by TV Insider, Meyer shared what it was like joining the soap, admitting, “It’s a little bit of a crazy story.” He continued that, “I lived for about 10 years in L.A. and then right around COVID time, I left L.A. and moved to Nashville and spent about two-and-a-half years there. I took some time off and then said, ‘I want to start acting again. I’m ready to get back in it.’”
“I booked a room in a house with some of my buddies. Four days after I had moved my stuff into that new house, I booked Days of our Lives, so it worked out perfectly; the timing was unbelievable.”
Meyer also described what his character would be like. He noted, upon meeting the character, “He’s in and out of trouble. No matter where he goes, chaos comes with him.”
Days Of Our Lives Is Planning A Milestone Tribute For Hayes
“He’s not purposefully mischievous or purposefully wishes harm on people. I think it’s just how he grew up, that everything he does ends up causing a bad karmic chaos storm behind him. He’s a gentle guy and he’s peaceful, but it seems that he doesn’t make the proper choices when he needs to.”
Famously, Hayes was married to his onscreen co-star and love-interest Susan Seaforth Hayes. Meyer noted his first scene was with Susan. As he noted, “Watching Susan do it so effortlessly was something that I’ll carry with me forever. She was so professional.”

As previously reported, the soap will soon reach its 15,000th episode, which will contain tributes to Hayes. In a preview for the upcoming episode, Susan herself, as her character Julie, can be heard saying, “It’s time, time to say goodbye.” As noted in a conversation with Variety, the actress was able to use parts of her husband’s real eulogy to honor him on the show.
