Charlie Rose was a mainstay on CBS television for many years. He interviewed just about everyone and was one of the most respected journalists on the network. However, he fell hard when he had three former female co-workers file a sexual harassment lawsuit against him.

Now, Charlie has settled out of court with the three women, and here is what you need to know.

Charlie Rose Settles In Sexual Harassment Lawsuits

Charlie Rose was a former television personality for five decades. He hosted Charlie Rose on PBS and co-anchored CBS This Morning from 2012 to 2017 with Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell. It was during his time on CBS that he ran into some trouble.

Rose’s ex-staffers Katherine Brooks Harris, Sydney McNeal, and Yuqing “Chelsea” Wei filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against him in 2018. In November 2017, PBS fired Rose after The Washington Post published multiple in-house allegations of sexual harassment from the late 1990s to 2011. CBS also terminated him. He has since moved online and hosts Charlie Rose Conversations, where he still interviews celebs online.

The three women sued CBS News and Rose in 2018. They claimed he subjected them to “repeated, ongoing and unlawful physical and verbal sexual harassment,” including sexual touching, sexual comments, and sexual advances.

CBS fired Rose and then settled with the women later in 2018. However, they then pursued Rose, who tried to have the suit dismissed in August 2018. Now, six years later, he has settled with the women.

Charlie Rose Settles Despite Claiming His Innocence

Charlie Rose’s lawyers claim the women were lying in their allegations and were “exploiting the #MeToo Movement and bootstrapping the accusations of sexual harassment made by third parties against Rose in articles published by The Washington Post” (via PEOPLE).

The lawsuits were filed after the Washington Post‘s article about allegations from the past. “Plaintiffs are not alleged to have had any knowledge of a single one of those accusations set forth in the articles. These hearsay accusations do not and cannot supply the missing link to the legally deficient claims,” the attorneys claimed in their request for dismissal.

The judge denied the motion.

Rose responded to The Washington Post, saying, “Your story is unfair and inaccurate.” However, Rose did admit in a November 2019 deposition that he did flirt with the accusers. When asked if he touched them, he said, “All of us would in one way or the other touch each other, on the arm, hug each other.”

A fourth woman filed her own lawsuit, claiming Rose was verbally abusive and made derogatory comments about her weight. He has not settled with that woman, and that cause is ongoing.
