Not every routine from the DWTS Season 33 finale received a perfect score. Although Jenna Johnson and Joey Graziadei competed for the top spot on the leaderboard for weeks, Carrie Ann Inaba noted she wasn’t impressed with their freestyle dance.

Of course, that ultimately didn’t matter in the end. Joey and Jenna won the Mirrorball Trophy thanks to fans’ votes. But naturally, Carrie Ann’s comments did get under Jenna’s skin. The professional dancer worked incredibly hard choreographing the routine.

See what Jenna had to say after the episode concluded.

Jenna Johnson Admitted Carrie Ann Inaba’s Comments Hurt Her

Each and every year, DWTS fans look forward to the epic finale freestyles. Jenna and Joey opted to do a tennis-themed routine to showcase The Bachelor star’s passion for the sport. They even danced with light-up tennis rackets to “Canned Heat” by District 78 and Jake Simpson.

Although the audience went wild for Joey and Jenna’s freestyle, Carrie Ann Inaba admitted she wasn’t a huge fan. She gave them a 9/10 for the performance.

“I just found some of the angles, because of the racket, had to be super tight and it just didn’t nail it,” Carrie Ann shared her opinion while the audience loudly booed behind her. Joey’s fiancee Kelsey Anderson was visibly upset.

“I was a little defeated because I thought he did absolutely exquisite in it,” Jenna shared with Us Weekly after winning the Mirrorball Trophy Tuesday night. “But I was actually brought back to my season with Adam Rippon and on our freestyle, I think we got eight.”

Jenna and Adam Rippon took home the Mirrorball Trophy back in Season 26. Since then, the professional dancer has made it to the finale several times. Season 33 marks her second victory.

“I was so, so defeated then, but we ended up winning,” Jenna remembered about her previous win. “I held onto that glimmer of hope that we could still pull through and do it, and we did it.”

Carrie Ann Inaba Seemed To Have The Unpopular Opinion

The other judges didn’t agree at all with Carrie Ann’s comments. Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli both awarded the performances perfect 10s.

“Joey, my man, come on!” Derek said after the freestyle. “How dare you, Carrie Ann? Joey, that was phenomenal. And Jenna, your body of work all three seasons, what you produce year after year is incredible. Joey, that was a fantastic freestyle.”
