‘GMA’ Michael Strahan Makes Surprising New Career Announcement
Michael Strahan has many jobs. He hosts Good Morning America, works on the Fox NFL Sunday show with other football legends, and even hosts a game show called The 100,000 Pyramid. Now, he has announced he is adding something else to his list of careers.
Here is what Michael says he is doing next.
Michael Strahan Announces New Move
Michael Strahan made a special announcement on Fox NFL Sunday. He said he plans to join IndyCar for a special event in 2025. Fox will host the upcoming Indianapolis 500 in 2025, and part of the announcement revealed that Strahan will be part of it.
During Fox NFL Sunday, the show’s moderator, Curt Menefee, announced that Michael Strahan will participate in the race itself. He won’t be one of the race car drivers, but he has a very important job anyway. Strahan will drive the race car that will lead the drivers around the track before the race begins.
Strahan joins an impressive list of former drivers, including Tyrese Haliburton (2023), Danica Patrick (2021), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (2019), Victor Oladipo (2018), Jeff Gordon (2015), Dario Franchitti (2014), and Jim Harbaugh (2013). Harbaugh is an NFL coach and played ball while Strahan was in the league.
Strahan even showed off an Indy Car to his co-hosts during the show. He joked that he was too big to get into it. When it came to his car, he was very excited. “Corvette ZR1, this is my ride right here,” Michael said. “I’m going to drive the pace car. I love this car. This is rad” (via The Mirror).
Michael Strahan Talks Indianapolis 500
Menefee asked Michael Strahan how fast he would be allowed to go in the car. Micahel said he doesn’t know “if they’re gonna limit me or what. But I’m gonna see what we got here; I know this is a great car. I know I got all the drivers behind me because I’m leading the pace. We’re gonna see if they can keep up.”
It looks like Strahan will be driving a 1,064-horsepower 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 coupe. The car has a top speed of 233 mph, the highest speed of any American-made car.
Menefee was very excited about the prospect of Michael Strahan driving the pace car, saying it was “cool.” The Indianapolis 500 is the 109th running of the race, and it takes place on Sunday, May 25.
Josef Newgarden won the last two races and will look to make it three in a row in 2025.
