Chad Michael Murray Breaks Silence On ‘One Tree Hill’ Snub
Ever since it was announced that a One Tree Hill revival was in the works, there had been speculation which actors from the original show would return. Chad Michael Murray has recently shed some light on the situation, explaining why fans shouldn’t expect him in the sequel series.
Chad Michael Murray Also Revealed If Another Actor Was Returning
For many, Murray is best known for playing Lucas Scott on the teen drama One Tree Hill. He is also known for his role as Tristin DuGray on Gilmore Girls and his appearances in films like A Cinderella Story and Freaky Friday.
Back in August, it was announced that a revival of the series was in the works from Netflix. This naturally led fans to wonder if Murray would be returning for the series.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, he revealed that he won’t be appearing in the series. He also confirmed this would also be the case for James Lafferty, who played his half-brother, Nathan Scott, on the show.
Murray shared a simple reason why both he and Lafferty won’t be appearing. As he put it, “We’re not doing it because no one’s ever picked up the phone and said, ‘Hey, we’re doing this,’ so we’re not doing it.”
Murray Also Got A Surprisingly Well-Timed Text During The Interview
Lafferty and Murray seem to still be close years after the show came out. As the publication noted, Lafferty even texted Murray while discussing the reboot, causing Murray to joke, “Speak of the devil.”
Despite not appearing, Murray noted both he and Lafferty did like the fact that the show was coming back in some form. As Murray himself shared, “I want it for the fans.”

Murray appeared to share a similar sentiment in a recent conversation with Deadline. As he shared, “I really want some iteration of this show to come back for the fans.” He continued that, “I’ll tell you, whatever iteration of the show comes forward, I want that for the fans. There’s such a brotherhood and a bond between so many people all around the world with us. I’m grateful for that.”
