CBS Replacing ‘Blue Bloods’ With Another Cop Show On Fridays
Blue Bloods is coming to an end. Not even the cast members know why, as they have argued that the show is as popular and successful now as it ever was during its run. However, CBS has said they felt the need to freshen things up on its schedule. That might make it seem strange that they are replacing the show with another cop show.
Here is what is replacing Blue Bloods when it comes to an end next month.
CBS Replacing Blue Bloods With Another Cop Show
Blue Bloods’ series finale is approaching fast. The final episodes of the beloved police procedural series will air on CBS on Friday, December 13, at 10/9c. That same night, the network will air a remembrance and look back at the popular series.
The network claimed that it needs to cancel long-running shows to keep the schedule fresh. Even though fans love the older series and tune in every week to watch them, the network wants to create shows for newer fans and hopes the older fans will stick around for what’s next.
In the last television season, shows like NCIS: Hawai’i, CSI Vegas, and Blue Bloods were all canceled. The network also canceled S.W.A.T. but backed out and allowed that show to have one final season before ending. That leads to the latest news about CBS on Friday nights.
After the show ends, S.W.A.T. will replace Blue Bloods on the CBS Friday night schedule. The final season of S.W.A.T. will start airing on CBS on Friday nights at 10/9c on January 31, 2025.
Tom Selleck Still Not Happy About Blue Bloods Ending
Tom Selleck is still not happy that his popular police procedural is ending. “I’m kind of frustrated. During those last eight shows, I haven’t wanted to talk about an ending for Blue Bloods but about it still being wildly successful,” he said (via TV Insider).
Selleck pointed out that in the 2023-2024 television season, Blue Bloods would have been the sixth most-watched show of the year if all football shows had been removed from the schedule. He said he wasn’t holding grudges, but it is hard to believe they will find a show that will remain as successful for as long.
However, with S.W.A.T., at least the initial replacement has a big built-in fanbase. While nowhere nearly as successful as Selleck’s hit show, it is a series that had just as ravenous of a fanbase. When Shemar Moore fought for his show, fans responded, and the network listened.

This is a good show and since cbs cancels good shows i am not surprised. I guess when CBS loses all viewers a good show will be begin being kept again.
I really don’t like SWAT. I never watch it. I did watch it the first year. I will watch something else.
It’s just plain Stupid to end a show that I have watched every episode of and then some. What the hell is CBS thinking? Oh, they want to appeal to a “younger” audience?! Just what do they believe ending one of the Greatest shows ever and replace it with another show that is in it’s final season?!!🤔 I don’t even watch S.W.A.T!!!
will not be watching SWAT. Blue Bloods should not have been canceled
don’t like swat, never did. wont watch on Fridays. Have Blue Bloods be bought my NetFlix or another local channel. I will go where Blue Bloods goes! CBS screwed themselves when they cancelled Blue Bloods!
I will not watch swat. I watch something else on a different channel on Fridays. Messed up for letting Blue Bloods goes. Will keep watching Blue Bloods on ION channel.
I’m very sad to see Blue Bloods leaving. I will say I have never watched one episode of SWAT and I certainly won’t start now. They should’ve left it canceled instead of Blue Bloods.
Will not watch anything on CBS Again. Everyone who enjoys Blue Bloods needs to boycott CBS and their advertisers. Hurt them in their wallets
I am so disappointed in CBS. I have watched and love Blue Bloods from the beginning and so disgusted of all these shows being removed. I watch and love SWAT also, and was really getting in to NCIS Hawaii when they took that off. WHY. CBS says to pull in new younger crowds. But what they don’t realize is that this new younger crowd doesn’t care about shows like these. They care about gaming, Netflix, Hulu and Prime. It’s the older generation that sit at home at night watching TV, looking and waiting for our shows to come on, not the younger crowds. Good thing Paramount+ is coming out with a new Series with Billy Bob Thornton. I guess I will be turning to shows on my Streaming channels, because I haven’t seen anything new come out that tops ALL the shows that they are canceling.
Swat is very bad! Blue Bloods is very good.
That sums up most comments.
I believe that canceling Blue Bloods is not only CBS’s biggest mistake it may be their demise. This is the greatest show since NYPD BLUE. You want to appeal to a younger crowd. Who’s the genius that thought that one out. The Younger people will not watch anything that you put on your channel. Leave Blue Bloods on. I really believe your taking the show off because it shows Family Values and Traditions. And WOKE Culture doesn’t want Younger people to see that. I’m NEVER Watching CBS again except for Football.
AMEN I COULDN’T HAVE SAID IT BETTER
SWAT is not even on the same level as Blue Bloods. I don’t like SWAT and will probable watch old reruns of MASH. Maybe another network will start a weekly series of Tom Selleck as Jesse Stone. That would be great.
