JonBenét Ramsey’s Dad Begging Police To Run New DNA Tests
JonBenét Ramsey was murdered 28 years ago. If she had not died, the young girl would now be 34. While many people believed her parents had something to do with the murder, the investigators soon cleared them of the crime. Now, three decades later, her father is still looking for who killed his daughter.
Here is what John Ramsey said about his daughter’s still unsolved murder and his belief the police don’t care enough to investigate further.
JonBenét Ramsey’s Dad Wants DNA Evidence Pulled
John Ramsey said that the police could still solve his daughter’s murder over three decades later if they only cared enough. He said the DNA testing has come so far today that he feels more evidence could be found if the police ran it.
John said there was genetic material left on the handmade garrote used to strangle his 6-year-old daughter and other items found at the crime scene the police could test. However, he said the police are refusing to test the evidence to find if there was a new DNA match.
“We’re begging the police to engage,” John, 80, said (via PEOPLE). “There are cutting-edge DNA labs that want to help and who believe they can move the case forward.” John also claims the police chief in Boulder is in charge and that no one will come and help him solve the crime unless he asks for help.
He seems to hint that he is refusing to ask for help or do anything to solve the decades-old murder of a six-year-old child. “We’re not asking them to do anything weird,” John said. “Just do your job. Test the DNA.”
New JonBenét Ramsey Documentary Coming To Netflix
This call for help from John Ramsey comes just days before the premiere of a new documentary coming to Netflix. Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey? premieres on the streaming service on Monday, November 25.
The new documentary is a three-part series that will reexamine the murder of the young six-year-old beauty pageant contestant. JonBenét Ramsey was found dead in a basement room in an upscale Boulder, Colorado., neighborhood on the morning of Dec. 26, 1996. She had been s*xually assaulted and strangled.
John and his wife Patsy, who has since passed away, found a handwritten ransom note left behind in their home. Despite this, the parents became the main suspects in the murder case, and many people around the United States condemned them without trial. Their nine-year-old son, Burke, was also a suspect.
John said the police decided they were the killers and set out to prove it without looking into other suspects or at the actual evidence. “They made that decision on day one, and tried desperately to prove it,” John said.
“If it stays in the hands of the Boulder Police, it will not be solved, period,” John said. “If they accept help, all the help that’s out there, that’s available and offered, it will be solved. Yes, I believe it will be solved.”
