As Hand claimed, the pro boxer picked her and a friend up after the party, bringing them to a hotel. While there, she claimed he forced himself on her in the suite.

For their part, both McGregor and Lawrence have denied these claims. McGregor himself has said that the encounter was consensual.

McGregor appeared at the proceedings this Friday with his partner Dee Devlin. The jury eventually found his liable for the assault.

Ni Lamhain has since been awarded around $250,000 in damages. However, in their ruling, the jury also noted that they did not believe Lawrence assaulted her.

After leaving the courthouse, McGregor remained silent as media members asked him questions. At the time, reporters asked about his role as a “role model for young fans” or if he had “an apology to the woman at the center of this.” At the time, he did not make a public comment.

For her part, as noted by Irish Star, Ni Lamhain made a statement, saying, “I would like to start off by saying I’m overwhelmed and touched by the support I have received from everybody.” She went on to thank a variety of figures, including her barristers, the jury, and the Rape Crisis Centre.

Ni Lamhain continued that, “I know this has impacted not only my life, my daughter’s, my family and friends tremendously, and it’s something that will I’ll never forget for the rest of my life. But now that justice has been served, I can now try and move on and look forward to the future with my family and friends and daughter.”

As noted by TMZ Sports, McGregor did release the following statement over the ruling, “The judge’s instruction and the modest award given was for assault, there was not an award for aggravated or exemplary damages. I am disappointed that the jury did not hear all the evidence that the DPP reviewed.”

The pro boxer also noted that, “I am with my family, focused on my future.” TMZ Sports later reported that McGregor plans to appeal the decision.
