‘Y&R’ Jason Thompson Suffers Horrific Injury, Fans Worry Amputation
Actor Jason Thompson is known by fans for his work on The Young and the Restless. However, he recently shared a video of himself, showcasing a recent leg injury. Since then, fans and even some of Thompson’s cast-mates have shown their concern.
Jason Thompson Got Hurt Just Ahead Of His Birthday
Jason Thompson is a Canadian actor who first came to prominence in the world of soaps playing Dr. Patrick Drake on General Hospital. He also appeared in the spin-off, General Hospital: Night Shift.
Thompson would leave General Hospital towards the start of 2016. That same year, he ended up joining The Young and the Restless as Billy Abbott, having taken on the role from Burgess Jenkins.
Taking to Instagram, the actor released a video just ahead of his 48th birthday. Unfortunately, he also shared some troubling news.
Thompson shared that, “It’s Tuesday today. Tomorrow is Wednesday. It’s my birthday. I’m turning 48, and I got the perfect birthday present on Saturday afternoon.” He then commented it was “the perfect reminder that I’m getting a little long in the tooth.”
“I was playing adult league soccer, 15 minutes into my warm-up, taking some shots on the goalie, and pop! Felt it, heard it—really, really uncomfortable.”
The actor began to show a bruise on his leg. He also joked, “I mean purple all the way, gnarliness.”
Even Other Y&R Cast-Mates Commented On The Post
Thompson also assured fans he would receive medical treatment for the bruise. As he shared, “Told my doctor, ‘What’re you gonna do except take it as a lesson to be better.’ Dr. Locke, I’m coming to see you.”
Fans were quick to share their concerns with the star. As one user wrote, “Oh my gosh! That looks terrible. I’m sooo sorry. Getting old sucks. I turn 52 next month. Sending positive healing vibes your way.” She also added in a reply, “Happy Birthday.”

Another user assured Thompson, “You’re just a baby.” As they continued, “I just had my 74th birthday a few days ago! I had to learn to walk backwards up steep hills (doctors orders) to return two broken ankles back to their glory days! I’m up to 6 miles per day! So buck up kiddo; even though you are adorable!”
Some fans also tried to offer advice. One user suggested “arnica gel will help with pain, inflammation and dissipation of the bruise.” Another asked if the actor was on crutches.
As noted by Soaps, Thompson’s cast-mates also showed concern. Melissa Claire Egan, who plays Chelsea on The Young and the Restless, wrote, “And you let me complain about my shoulder today?!” Michael Graziadei, who plays Daniel, also asked, “WTF! They gonna have to amputate?”
Michael Fairman, using the Michael Fairman TV account, also wrote, “Jason!!! I’ve been through it when my bicep ruptured off. Ugh. It sucks getting old doesn’t it???? Hang in there! Happy belated birthday.”

Oh my goodness Jason Happy Birthday ( Billy) I have sympathy for you! Hubby loves you too as you are a great actor and have watched you for a long time!
On September on 25 it was pay day and I was helping a guy backup with our water trailer and he did not see me standing there and backed me into our roofline on the back of our Berm home! He hit me hard and now I have a left knee hairline fracture and I am 77 yrs old! And well he hit me hard as he came into me on a diagonal and pinned me against the roofline and it is metal! Yep, it was bad as when he pulled the truck forward it tore my knee and upper calf right in front of left knee so a double whammy! It is now November 21 and I am going to Physical Therapy for next two months! It tore knee cap had six stiches and upper calf and had 9 stiches and very bad b & b marks, still have a few as when I landed on roof it made me sit on metal with ridges and screws that I ended up sitting on and no problem showing marks either! Wish I could send you a picture of us! Harry &Joanne Shadinger, email me back so I can send pics to you as we are big fans of Y&R! Thank you Penrose, Colorado
Jason, I’m sorry to hear that you got hurt. I hope everything’s okay with you. Get well soon.
