Celebrity chef Guy Fieri and rock and roll legend Sammy Hagar co-own a tequila business. However, the two never expected that someone would hijack two trucks bringing their alcohol. That happened, though, and two trucks carrying the valuable merchandise were stolen.

Here is a look at what happened, and what Fieri and Hagar had to say.

Sammy Hagar & Guy Fieri Tequila Trucks Hijacked

Guy Fieri is a celebrity chef best known for his various TV shows on the Food Network, including Diners, Driver-Ins, and Dives. Sammy Hagar is a rock and roll legend. He sang songs like “I Can’t Drive 55” and was Van Halen’s second lead singer. More recently, they co-own a tequila business.

Fieri, 56, and Hagar, 77, co-own the tequila brand Santo Spirits. According to reports, two of their trucks crossed the border into Texas. After they reached Laredo, Texas, on November 9, the thieves hijacked the trucks. According to Hagar’s representative, the missing trucks had 24,240 bottles of Santo Blanco and Reposado and a specially made Extra AƱejo, created over the course of 39 months (via Fox News).

“It appears this was an organized crime effort where the trucks were illegally double-brokered to different carriers who transferred the product to their trucks,” the rep said. This happened right after they crossed the border from Mexico into Texas.

“For a growing company like Santo, it’s really a shame for something like this to happen in the middle of our strongest year to date and right before the holidays!” Hagar said.

Guy Fieri & Sammy Hagar Say Drivers Were Unharmed

There was some good news. While the company lost a lot of money on the stolen tequila, the truck drivers remained unharmed. Sammy Hagar and Guy Fieri both said that was an important thing to remember.

“Anyone that knows business knows that this is a huge setback for any company in a hugely competitive market,” Hagar said. “But Guy and I will survive. Most of all, we’re glad that nobody was hurt during this crime.”

Guy said that they heard about the heist of their liquor on November 14, five days after the robbery occurred. “We’ve worked so hard,” Fieri said (via PEOPLE). “This is our best year we’ve ever had in Santo. We just had all this momentum, and now whatever’s on the shelf is all people are going to get.”

He also said they have people working on a 24/7 schedule right now but won’t be able to replenish their supply before the holidays. As for the robbery, Fieri said, “I mean, one is one. But now you’ve got to have double the amount of people to pull off the double heist. It just seems so much riskier to take two trucks.”

Fieri is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone who can locate the trucks.
