The View moderator, Whoopi Goldberg loves to celebrate her birthday. While she had a few hiccups this year that tried to keep her down, she wasn’t about to give up. But leading up to it she details an up close and personal, intimate encounter with her co-host, Joy Behar.

Undoubtedly, The View panelists like to have fun. Since Whoopi Goldberg was celebrating her 69th birthday this week, they had a great time sharing But Whoopi missed Joy Behar’s big day last month. In October, Joy got a surprise from Nathan Lane who ordered her a “Hot Italian Pizza” stripper for her 82nd birthday celebration on the air. Sara Haines points out, “He gyrated, and we were told we couldn’t do that anymore, right?” Although Whoopi didn’t get a dancer for her birthday, she recalls another intimate encounter she had with Joy in 2002.

After Whoopi Goldberg started to reminisce, Joy Behar Whoopi said, “The only time I have ever seen Joy and a pole was when I was trying to push her [on a pole]. Remember that?” Joy has her hand on her head, and says, “Yeah, both of us.” Whoopi adds, “We were trying to get up on this stripper pole.” At that point, Joy looks to producer, Brian Teta, and suggests he just pull up the old footage. Brian casually responds, “Do we have the tape?”

Joy doesn’t say much, but her face indicates a cross between being embarrassed by the memory and amused.

Laughingly, Whoopi Goldberg continues, “I could not get her! Her leg wouldn’t go up, my behind wouldn’t, and I just thought, she’s sitting on my head right now. It was the wildest thing.” Sara Haines clarifies, “When you’re on a pole, one, it’s not a two-person sport, and you do not phone a friend.”

A Little Help From A Friend

Although Brian Teta didn’t find the 2002 video before the end of the show, the Internet is the gift that keeps on giving. However, the footage is available on Facebook where fans can see Barbara Walters taking a spin on the pole followed by Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg’s joint effort.

Likewise, Whoopi Goldberg was there on a guest appearance helping her pal, Joy Behar, hoist herself up and take a ride with her assistance. It shows Joy and Whoopi tag teaming and being good sports for The View.
