The View moderator, Whoopi Goldberg shocks fans by announcing a bold and exciting new career move. Undoubtedly, Whoopi’s career has been diverse and she has had widespread success. But at the age of 68, she still has big visions she is implementing.
Whoopi Goldberg Continues To Impress
Unmistakably, The View moderator has many successes under her belt. Since she has been in the entertainment industry for more than 40 years, she has seen a little bit of everything. Notably, she is an EGOT winner, showing off Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards, and has a mile-long résumé to back it up. She has been in many mainstream movies, acted on TV, been in theatre, is a comedian, is an accomplished author, and even brings many hot topics to viewers with her moderator job on The View. However, she isn’t content with stopping there. Now, on The Tonight Show, she shared a bold new gig she is passionately launching.
Whoopi Goldberg Shocks With New Career Move
On The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon says, “You keep creating, you’re always thinking of something different.” Then, Whoopi Goldberg gives her secret, “Cause I never married well.” Additionally, she jokingly says, “If I had married well, believe me…” Jimmy interjects, “You wouldn’t do any of this.” She nods in agreement. Furthermore, Jimmy brings up a new project she is working on. He says, “There’s this new project here that you’re going to announce tonight…it’s a new sports network.” Excitedly, Whoopi confirms, “Yes, I’m launching the first global women’s sports channel called AWSN.” On The Tonight Show‘s Instagram, they captioned the clip explaining the big career move. It says, “@whoopigoldberg is launching the very first global women’s sports channel called AWSN! #FallonTonight.”
Whoopi Goldberg Gives Details About AWSN
After Jimmy Fallon introduced Whoopi Goldberg’s new career move, she continued to talk about the sports project with AWSN. She says, “It will be the home for live women’s sports from around the world.” Furthermore, she says, “Everything from soccer, basketball, tennis, cricket…if a woman is playing it, we are showing it.” Whoopi adds, “I wanted to do this because ever since I was a little kid I always wanted to play sports. And my brother could play…but they would say, ‘Oh hi little girl’ and it always p—ed me off.”
If At First, You Don’t Succeed
Admittedly, Whoopi Goldberg says the AWSN idea was “passed” on for about sixteen years. But she continued to share her vision and it was finally picked up. They will be partnering with Common Spirit to bring the new network to life. Currently, it has already launched in multiple countries but will be available in the US very soon.

During the interview, The View moderator briefly gave her statement about the presidential election outcome. First, Jimmy Fallon asks, if there is “anything left to be said?” Whoopi flatly says, “No, I think we all get it.” She adds, “It happened. For some of us, it went our way. For some of us, it did not. This is the nature of an election. This is what happens.” Then, she continues, “You do not always like what you get. But when you do not like it enough, you can get out there and protest. That is the beauty of America. So, it happened, you know?”
