'American Idol' Triston Harpor's Mom Bullied Over Good News

Fans of American Idol alum Triston Harper and his mother recently shared two major life updates from the singer on social media. However, his mother has recently gotten criticism on social media over the news. That said, other fans were more sympathetic and even shared their own experiences in the comments.

The American Idol Alum & His Mother Had Big News For Fans

Taking to Facebook, Harper recently shared a big announcement with his fans. He recently got married to his girlfriend, Paris Reed.

However, his mother, Hattie Mae Sullivan, ended up sharing another big update a few days later. Including a photo of Triston and Paris holding a positive pregnancy test, revealing that she is about to become a grandmother.

Sullivan joked that her son’s marriage was now old news. As she wrote in the caption, “Now Everybody has congratulated me on Triston and Paris getting married but to me that is old news but now I’m bout to be a ‘G Ma.’”

Many commenters congratulated the growing family over the news. However, the news didn’t set well with all of Triston’s fans, with many criticizing Sullivan on Facebook.

Some Users Were Sympathetic, Others Less So

In particular, many took issue with Harper’s age, as he was 16 at the time of his marriage. As one commenter wrote, “Man I had hoped for more for him… very talented singer… too bad he didn’t have better parents who actually raised him… he had to be caretaker to his mom and siblings so long he doesn’t know which way is up…”

The comment continued, “Hopefully not cycles repeating themselves… I hope he keeps is record deal and becomes a big deal one day… huge responsibility for young teens… prayers sent!!”

Another wrote, “[Triston] was 15 when they got married. I know [it’s] the south but dam just not long ago he was asking for money and now everyone is giving him congrats at 15 and being married and a kid on the way. What a life this is going to be.”

Another user also mused, “Both are way too young. Another case where the grandmother will probably wind up raising the baby.”

However, some users were more sympathetic, with some even sharing their own experiences. One user wrote, “Congratulations [Triston.] I had children very young and I was able to raise them myself. It wasn’t easy but I did make it. I hope the very best for you. Sending you [a lot] of love.”

American Idol fans were introduced to Harper during Season 22 on the show. Only 15 years old at the time, the aspiring singer ended up in fifth place.
