Netflix star Joe Exotic of Tiger King fame recently spoke out about his time in prison. The reality TV personality also shared his hope to get an early release date. In addition, he shared what it was like for him behind bars.

Joe Exotic Is Currently Doing Time In Forth Worth, Texas

Joe Exotic, also known as Joseph Maldonado-Passage, Joseph Allen Schreibvogel, and “The Tiger King,” is a media personality who ran the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park, also known as “Tiger King Park.”

For many, however, Exotic’s biggest claim to fame is the Netflix documentary series, Tiger King. In particular, many viewers turned in and watched his feud with Big Cat Rescue founder Carole Baskin.

However, Exotic is currently doing time at the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. He had been incarcerated for an alleged murder-for-hire plot against Baskin.

Exotic recently spoke with US Weekly about his hopes to get out of prison. As he shared, “My biggest goal is not only to get out of here and move on and live a life.” He continued, “I want to testify in front of Congress about the prison and justice system [and] what really goes on in here.”

Exotic Touched On What Life Was Like Behind Bars

The reality TV personality also gave a brief glimpse into his life behind bars. As he shared, “I’m in a medical facility. Part of the roof is missing, and we have plastic bags above our beds taped to the ceiling to guide water out the window. In the last week, I caught 15 rats on sticky boards under my bed. Now 140 of us have scabies.” He also noted that he ran a “soup kitchen,” something he took much pride in.

Despite this, Exotic felt hopeful that he would be a free man pretty soon. He shared, “I still have faith that I’m going to walk out of here — I just need to live for the next five or six months and hope for the best.”

Exotic also made note of how he disliked the way the show portrayed his rivalry with Baskin, saying, “We’re working on a lawsuit, so the prison let my lawyers come in with it on a computer. I was disgusted with the way [director] Eric Goode portrayed [the situation].” He also claimed, “Carole and I never had a deadly fight going on — it was blown out of proportion. I never saw Carole’s face until my trial.”

It was previously reported that Exotic might have been hoping a big name could help him get an early release. Back in May, it was noted that he wrote on an Instagram post from Kendall Jenner. He asked her to help get him in contact with her sister Kim Kardashian, noting she was working towards being a lawyer and was working with the incarcerated.
