The Tiger King’s attorney Roger Roots explains that the original trial was “fundamentally riddled with errors” that affected the “very heart of the accusations.” Roger continued “Had that evidence been known at the time, he would not have been convicted,” he claims.
Roger Roots said that based on the new evidence that has come to light. Joe has a good chance of being acquitted. Roger said “I would say he is hopeful and optimistic,” he continued “Joe doesn’t seem to be depressed at all. He’s thinking about the future.” Joe Exotics’ retrial will take place in 2025. Mr. Roots said, “Joe is actively planning for his future – and hopes to one day share his wealth of tiger knowledge in an educational setting.” Joe Exotic hopes to pursue a career in academia and this will be new for him.

Mr. Roots expressed emphatically “He certainly has a lot of knowledge, so I think he would like to speak and give lectures. I don’t believe he has any intention or desire to get back into tiger exhibitions or anything like that.” Roger said “I think what he wants to do is become an educator and perhaps do some entertainment in the future.” The public will certainly be particularly excited to see what Joe does next.
Roger Roots shared that the retrial process could take months. He did say “Pending the outcome of a new trial, we would be moving for his immediate release, and I think we’d have a very good chance of getting that granted.” Additionally, Joe Exotics’ legal team hopes that when the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals orders a new trial, finally, Joe will be fully acquitted. They are hopeful he will be out and free soon.
