‘Jeopardy!’ Ken Jennings Has Cringe Moment Over Player’s Wager
Ken Jennings has experience that many game show hosts don’t have. While most game shows have TV stars or celebrities hosting them, Ken was an actual champion on Jeopardy! before he took on his role as the host. This means that he often has real reactions to what he sees players doing – good or bad.
That happened this week when a player made a questionable wager and Ken visibly cringed at the moment. Here is what happened.
Ken Jennings Visibally Reacts To Jeopardy! Bad Wager
Ken Jennings seems to really enjoy being part of Jeopardy! years after he was one of the show’s best reigning champions. However, he can also feel the pain when he sees a player making a poor move in the game. That happened this week when one contestant found all three Daily Doubles and still lost.
This moment happened when returning champion Greg Jolin was going for his third consecutive win and went against Brian Frey, a journeyman originally from Syosset, New York, and Lindsey Simmons, an attorney originally from Marshall, Missouri.
It was Brian Fey who found all three Daily Doubles and had a great chance to run away with the lead. However, throughout the game, Brian and Greg traded the lead back and forth. It was the Daily Doubles that swung things in Greg’s favor.
Brian went big on his wagering and it cost him huge.
What Happened To Brian Frey On Jeopardy!?
Brian Fey found the first Daily Double under “Quotable Oscar Wilde.” The clue was, “This watery site ‘must be one of the earliest, if not the keenest, disappointments in American married life.” Brian wagered his entire $3,000 and missed it when he guessed, “What is Niagra Falls?”
With the all-in wager and missed answer, Ken Jennings visibly cringed at the moment. Despite this, Brian attempted a comeback. Brian once again wagered $3,000 on his second Daily Double, and this time, he got the answer right. Under “World Flags,” the clue was “The four stars on Tokelau’s flag represent this constellation and the role of Christianity in the country’s culture.” The answer was, “What is Southern Cross.”
However, this put Brian at $6,000, and he was still behind Greg’s $9,000. Brian then found the third Daily Double, and this time he wagered $5,000 on “Epics.” The clue was, “No one-trick pony, Finder, who starred in “Seabiscuit,” also played Joey in this World War I epic.” Brian missed it (“Who is War Horse?”) and dropped it to $1,000.
Ken Jennings once again cringed at the moment, watching three giant Daily Double bets destroy Brian’s chances to win. Greg ended up winning with $25,000 to increase his three-day earnings to $75,002.

Well shoot. I don’t watch Jeopardy but still read articles about it like this one. Out of the 3 Daily Doubles mentioned, only one reveals what the correct was. What IS the correct answer to the other two?? (Were they left out deliberately? If so, to what purpose?)
Just curious.
