Music Legend Quincy Jones Dead At 91
It is a sad day as legendary music producer, Quincy Jones has passed away at the age of 91. He has had an illustrious career and worked with incredible legends. They included the likes of Michael Jackson, Will Smith, and “Old Blue Eyes,” Frank Sinatra. According to TMZ, Jones died on Sunday, November 3rd in his Bel-Air home.
He was surrounded by loved ones on that sad night with his publicist, Arnold Robinson, releasing a heartbreaking statement:
“Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing. And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him.”
Right now, his family needs time to grieve so they are asking for privacy. However, instead of flowers, they would appreciate donations made to The Jazz Foundation of America. Quincy spanned all parts of the music industry. He was not just a producer but Time Magazine named him one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 20th century. Quincy was also known as a composer, artist, arranger, conductor, instrumentalist, record company executive, magazine founder and multi-media entrepreneur.
He had also worked in television and film where he continued to don his producer cap. Yet, when it came to music, he created some of the most iconic and timeless hits. Working with the late Michael Jackson, the two produced “Off the Wall,” “Thriller,” and “Bad.” Keep in mind that “Thriller” remains the best-selling album of all time. He leaves behind six children including actress Rashida Jones. She is known for her roles in The Office, Parks and Rec, The Social Network, and I Love You, Man.
