Bruce Willis’ Wife Gives Sad Update On Star’s Declining Health
Bruce Willis’ wife, daughters, and ex-wife, Demi Moore, have kept fans updated on his health issues. While they have kept him safely out of the public eye since his dementia diagnosis, they said he wanted fans to know what was happening. Bruce felt his diagnosis could help others dealing with similar issues.
However, the most recent news is very sad, and it comes from his wife, Emma Heming Willis.
Bruce Willis’ Wife Gives Sad Update
Emma Heming Willis has been with Bruce Willis every step of the way as he battles his dementia diagnosis. While the daughters have been active in his life and seem to be happy to spend time with their dad, Emma said they know the truth about the situation.
Emma said that she has made sure their youngest children understand that their dad won’t be getting better. Bruce and Emma have two young children: Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10. She said that, despite their young age, she would not lie to them about their dad’s health.
“I’ve never tried to sugarcoat anything for them. They’ve grown up with Willis declining over the years,” Emma said (via Town & Country Magazine). “I’m not trying to shield them from it.”
She admitted they didn’t know what was wrong for a long time, as he was misdiagnosed. However, once they learned the truth, it was “key,” and they could learn what frontotemporal dementia was so she could educate her children about the disease.
Brice Willis’ Wife Explains Frontotemporal Dementia
According to Emma, frontotemporal dementia has no obvious signs when it starts, but it just “whispers.” She said he was diagnosed with aphasia in 2022 and then the next year they learned it was frontotemporal dementia.
“I say that FTD whispers, it doesn’t shout. It’s hard for me to say, ‘This is where Bruce ended, and this is where his disease started to take over,'” Emma explained. “He was diagnosed two years ago, but a year prior we had a loose diagnosis of aphasia, which is a symptom of a disease but is not the disease.”
Emma said that when her kids ask questions, she wants to answer honestly. She let them know when Bruce was struggling and why. She wants them to understand this is “terminal” and there is no cure. With that said, she doesn’t mention that part to the kids because they haven’t asked about him dying yet.
“They know that Daddy’s not going to get better,” Heming said. “They’re going to see me fight for our family, have some hope and help the next family out there.”

FTD has been a member of my family for generations. It is a family member, always there in one of us. Out of 8 children 6 of us have been diagnosed with the gene that causes FTD. As one of those 6 & being 65 & symptom free I TRY not to look at it as the cruel death sentence that it is. Watching family members die is a double grieving. Bruce Willis & Wendy Williams have put a public face to a disease no ones talked about. I’m grateful to the Willis family for putting a public stamp on an issue that affects millions of our aging society. FTD is the most aggressive forms of dementia & hopefully the next generation won’t have to suffer from FTD as we have watched our grandparents, a parent, aunts, uncles & siblings suffer. I know its too late for me & even living with an unexploded bomb in my head I’m grateful for every day. Thank you
