Hoda Kotb’s Exit From The Today Show
Hoda Kotb has made some lifestyle changes this year. In addition to moving her family to the suburbs, Kotb is leaving her position on the Today Show. The 60-year-old who used to be a reporter for Dateline NBC wears multiple hats. The broadcast journalist, television personality, and author is one of the co-anchors for the NBC News morning show Today and is the co-host for the entertainment sector.
In addition, she has two adopted daughters, Haley and Hope. The kids are very young and as Kotb enters the retirement age bracket, it makes sense that she wants to step away from the city life and demanding career to find a more peaceful and family-oriented lifestyle.
Kotb moved her family to the suburbs in August 2024 before announcing in September 2024 that she would soon be leaving Today in the new year. Her co-hosts were very emotional during her tearful announcement, but she is already adapting to her new suburban lifestyle.
Halloween In The Suburbs Is A New Experience For Kotb’s Kids
On Friday, October 18th, Hoda Kotb discussed her new experiences for Halloween in the suburbs for her and her kids. Noting how lifestyles are different in the suburbs from the city, she remarked, “Everywhere I look in our town, [there’s] those big spiderwebs, all the things. They have parades. They said, ‘Your kid needs three Halloween costumes, or else the first one’s gonna get all ruined.'”
The Halloween activities seem endless as theres multiple parades in her town like at her kids’ schools and one for the whole town. Then, she added, “Some people block off their streets for block parties and then go trick-or-treating and then come back. It’s a days-long thing.”
Jenna Bush Hager, fellow news personality discussed how quickly Kotb adjusted to her suburb life after living in New York City for so long. She expressed that she “can’t believe” it. When Kotb revealed she was hosting a pumpkin carving event at her house, Hager said, “I feel like I don’t even know you.”
Furthermore, Kotb was also shocked by her adjustment and lifestyle changes saying, “I can’t even believe what I’m doing right now. We’re inviting people over, people are coming over, we’re having dinner, ordering pizza and salads, come join us at our table. This is crazy.”
Additionally, Kotb stated that Halloween is so fun in the suburbs. Then, she disclosed, “We used to go trick-or-treating at CVS and the dry cleaners and [a nail salon]. … My kids thought trick-or-treating was walking into a store and having the lady behind the counter put some [candy] in your bag.”
