Matthew Perry Estate Executor Settles For Huge Sum

Friends fans thought they were in a nightmare when it was announced that Matthew Perry had passed away. The former television star had always struggled with drugs and alcohol, which finally caught up to him. It’s been roughly a year since the incident, but it appears Perry’s estate is officially cleaned up and ready to go. Unsurprisingly, there was a lot to sort through before the money began being spread around.

Perry is still getting royalties from Friends, as it’s likely going to remain popular for years. Fans were shocked by how much Perry’s estate was worth following his death and all of his debts being paid. How much? Keep reading for more details.

Matthew Perry’s Insane Estate

After Matthew Perry was found in his Los Angeles home, his manager, Lisa Ferguson, was appointed to manage his estate. Before everything was divided amongst his family, the estate was forced to settle his debts. While it might seem like this should take a short amount of time, it took roughly one year for everything to be fully cleaned up. No creditors came to the estate to claim anything, but the estate still had to wait.

They then had to pay the taxes Perry would have owed in 2024. After a little back and forth while sorting it out, the tax situation was cleared up. According to Yahoo!, once all was said and done, Perry had a total of just under $1.6 million in current assets to be split. Receiving part of his estate are his parents, his former partner Rachel Dunn, and five siblings and half-siblings.

What Else Was Matthew Perry Known For?

While it’s clear Matthew Perry was known mainly for Friends, he also starred in many other shows and movies. A few of his biggest movie successes were 17 Again when he acted alongside Zac Efron and The Whole Nine Yards. In 17 Again, Perry’s character is given a chance to live as a 17-year-old, played by Efron. The character, Mike O’Donnell, thinks his life would be so much better if he could experience high school another time. Once it is all said and done, his character sees how amazing his current life is and transforms back into his older self again.

He also penned a book prior to his death called Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing. It did phenomenally well, especially after Matthew Perry’s untimely death. Unfortunately, he did not do much acting after 2017 aside from appearing in the Friends: The Reunion special in 2021. He did do promotions for his book which were both beautiful and heartbreaking. Folks are still grieving the passing of Perry, knowing it could have and should have been avoided.
