‘General Hospital’ Star Réal Andrews Lands Exciting New Role
Réal Andrews originated the role of Lieutenant Marcus Taggert on General Hospital in 1996. The character’s vendetta against Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) played out for years on the show. The actor has played the role off and on for nearly 30 years. But he hasn’t appeared on the ABC soap since 2023. Réal Andrews revealed on social media that he landed a huge new role. Réal Andrews Lands Exciting New Role
Réal Andrews is more than just an actor. He has a side career as a motivational speaker and fitness/life coach. But General Hospital fans are always asking him when he will return to the soap. He said a few months ago that it was up to the show.
However, the actor took to his Instagram this week to share huge news. He landed a new role on a big network that he was super excited about. But because of his contract, he wasn’t able to share the details just yet.
“I got offered what is the biggest role in my life. It’s on the biggest and best network, the best directors, producers, and writers, in my opinion, in the industry. We’re in pre-production for it. I’m not able to talk about it right now, but it’s huge.”
Fans speculated in the comments that he might have joined the cast of the upcoming CBS soap Beyond the Gates. The new soap will premiere in January, but only a few of the core cast have been announced so far.
What That Means For His Future At General Hospital
What does his new role mean for his future at General Hospital? Unfortunately, the outlook isn’t good. Réal Andrews said that his time on the ABC soap is done, though there’s always a chance he might return someday.
“My chapter with General Hospital is over; the writing has been on the wall for a long time, but God clearly showed me that, and it’s been an amazing journey,” the actor said about his time on GH.
As viewers recall, Taggert found out he wasn’t Trina’s (Tabyana Ali) bio dad. Test results revealed that Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) is her biological father. While Trina said she would always consider Taggert her real father, she’s been calling Curtis ‘Dad’ lately, which doesn’t sit well with some viewers.
