Aoki Lee Simmons’ Shocking Reason She’s Quitting Modeling

Fans were excited to see more of Aoki Lee Simmons in various cover shoots. However, the daughter of fellow model Kimora Lee Simmons might not be following in her mother’s footsteps for much longer. Aoki Lee Simmons, like tons of other Gen-Zers, took to social media to talk about her frustrations surrounding her modeling career. The main reason Simmons felt like her hand was forced into preparing these announcements has plenty of folks in disbelief. Here’s what Simmons had to say about her future in front of cameras and why she made the decision she ultimately came to.

Why Aoki Lee Simmons Left Modeling

In a recent video posted to Instagram, Simmons announced that she was leaving her career as a model. Simmons laid it all out there by saying, “I think I’m probably wrapping up modeling soon.” While it might come as a shock to some fans that she’s leaving modeling, the reasoning behind her decision has plenty of folks up in arms. The starlet further explained her choice with:

“I love modeling, but it’s hard to go somewhere and get told over, over, and over [again], ‘No, no, no, you’re not pretty enough,’ that’s not a fun time… it’s a hard industry.”

Being told you’re not pretty enough, when you’re widely considered one of the most attractive people in the world, is insane. Simply from a human perspective, telling someone they’re not pretty enough is incredibly disrespectful. Simmons also talked about the fact that tons of photographers, critics, and fans alike constantly compare her to her mom. She said:

“It feels like one big fat comparison all the time. Like, OK [I’m] not as good. I get that. My mom is always going to be a way better model than me. But it’s just annoying to have that comparison sometimes.”

Having a parent who’s known as one of the best models ever in the fashion industry makes it challenging to follow in their footsteps. Even though it seems like Simmons enjoyed modeling, it might be best for her to at least take a mental break. So, what’s next for Simmons?

What’s Next for Aoki Lee Simmons?

Simmons isn’t just one of the most beautiful people in the world, but she’s also one of the smartest. She recently graduated from Harvard with a degree in International Relations. The now-former model hopes to start a career in the government in some capacity.

It’s clear Simmons knew modeling might not be the perfect career for her all along. She was brilliant to set herself up and ensure she’d have a consistent stream of income for the rest of her life. Plenty of folks in the modeling community are curious to see what the future holds for Simmons.
