Robin Roberts Reveals Tragic Reason For ‘GMA’ Absence
This past week on Good Morning America, Robin Roberts missed some time. While David Muir joined as a fourth host on Thursday, Robin was absent. Instead, it was George Stephanopoulos, Michael Strahan, and Rebecca Jarvis. However, Robin took to social media to explain her absence.
Here is why Robin missed GMA this week, and it was sad news.
Robin Roberts’ Heartbreaking Absence
Robin Roberts took to social media to explain her absence from Good Morning America this week. “I won’t be on GMA today so I can attend a dear friend’s father’s homegoing service in TX,” she wrote. She also included a video of herself talking to fans about the hurricane.
In the video, she spoke directly to people about Hurricane Milton. She said it is a “difficult time for many in the path of Hurricane Milton, and our thoughts and prayers are with them.” Robin mentioned her thoughts were with the people who lost loved ones and their homes to the storm.
David Muir was a co-host on Good Morning America that day and was on the scene live in Florida. He reported on the damage and was in the path of the storm as he reported its devastating effects. David explained what was happening, the storm damage inflicted on Florida, and the harrowing situation.

Robin also uses her social media to send out prayers. This time, her message spotlighted the “disappointments, unfair situations, tests, and trials” people face. It was especially poignant regarding the hurricane and the damage that it has caused in Florida and across the southern states.
She then continued, “On the other side of every difficulty is promotion, opportunity, growth, and increase.” Fans swept into the comments to thank Robin for her comments and to also send their best wishes for her friend:
- “Beautiful message. Grateful ever Grateful. Safe travels and God bless”
- “Wherever you are your daily message is always filled with love and hope. God bless you Robin, be safe”
- “I’m so sorry for your loss. My sincere condolences to your friend’s family. Safe travels.”
