Ariana Grande Just Clapped Back Against Body Shamers

Diehard fans of Ariana Grande have many reasons to love her. Her music career is incredible, her acting career is impressive, and she even has a cosmetic line called r.e.m. Beauty. It’s been compared to Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez and Kylie Cosmetics by Kylie Jenner. Currently, Ariana is being judged for things beyond her professional successes. She’s being heavily criticized for her physical appearance. Here’s what Ariana just said in an attempt to clap back against trolls who’ve been bashing her.

Ariana Grande Is Sick Of Body Shamers

Ariana linked up with Charli XCX for a collaboration on Charli’s new album. In the pop music world, it’s always a big deal when two iconic singers hit the studio to record catchy songs together. People have also been begging Ariana to collaborate with Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, and more. Now that she’s linked up with Charli, their song is getting a lot of attention. The track is called “Sympathy is a Knife.” In the second verse, Ariana sings:

It’s a knife when you know they’re counting on your mistakes. It’s a knife when you’re so pretty, they think you must be fake. It’s a knife when they dissect your body on the front page. It’s a knife when they won’t believe you, why should you explain? It’s a knife when the mean fans hate the nice fans. When somebody says, ‘Ari, I think you’ve totally changed’. When somebody says they like the old me and not the new me. And I’m like, ‘Who the f*** is she?’”

Her Lyrics Are Very Passionate

These passionate lyrics from Ariana touch on how worn down she’s become from hearing fans bash her physical appearance every day. Her reference to being “dissected” on the front page is a metaphor for gossip magazines publishing articles about Ariana’s rumored struggles with an eating disorder. The line where she talks about how none of it is worth an explanation is Ariana’s way of saying she’s done trying to convince people to believe anything about her.

The saddest line when she sings about people liking the old version of her more than the new version of her is heartbreaking. Before Ariana started showcasing her current much-slimmer figure, fans weren’t collectively accusing her of suffering from an eating disorder all the time. During her days filming Victorious on Nickelodeon, eating disorder rumors weren’t a factor. When she released her beloved studio album Thank U Next in 2019, she wasn’t being judged for this stuff either.

Times have definitely changed, though. Her appearance in the upcoming Wicked movie has caused fans to start asking questions about her health and well-being. What are your thoughts on everything going on with Ariana? Let us know in the comment section below.
