‘The Challenge’ Wes Bergmann ‘Collecting Data’ For ‘House of Villains’
Wes Bergmann from The Challenge reveals he was ‘collecting data’ for his show, House of Villains. It seems the reality TV show alum was being a “game player” as usual to be successful in his competition. He even spoke to previous competitors.
Preparing For The Challenge Was Hard For Wes Bergmann
Wes Bergmann is a reality show star known for appearing on The Challenge. The series is a spinoff of Road Rules and Real World. However, the series also brought in “fresh meat.” Bergmann did not have to take this route as he was an alum of The Real World: Austin.
Now 40 and married with a one-year-old daughter, Lucy, Wes looks back on his difficult days on The Challenge. The TV personality explained to PEOPLE, “My fans are on me all the time. They’re like, ‘You’ll come back and you’ll do this. What do you doing?’” The star continues to keep his fans on their toes. Though Bergmann allegedly “retired” from MTV, he recently began starring in Season 2 of House of Villains.
The Challenge champion went on to say, “There was a 10 times difference in time commitments. I could show up to [House of Villains] fat and dumb and out of shape and do just fine. Whereas on The Challenge, I have to train for six months, leave the country, and check into prison for three months. That’s way, way, way different.”
Furthermore, The Real World Austin alum explained he could just “come out and hang out” with his fellow cast members. Joining him on Season 2 are some familiar faces. These include Teresa Giudice from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Jessie Godderz from Big Brother, Richard Hatch from Survivor, and Victoria Larson from The Bachelor.
In addition, joining them are Larissa Lima from 90 Day Fiancé, Kandy Muse from RuPaul’s Drag Race, Camilla Poindexter from Bad Girls Club, Tiffany “New York” Pollard from Flavor of Love, and Safaree from Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. Bergmann also discussed if and how he would be returning to The Challenge despite his retirement.
Will Wes Return To The Challenge?
Devenanzio aka Johnny Bananas has been participating in The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras. Reportedly, Bergmann revealed that this has given him “a little bit of FOMO.” Thus, the reality TV personality is not completely closing the door on his physically demanding series.
Moreover, Bergman expressed, “I’m going to be The Challenge‘s biggest cheerleader, and there are cameo-esque things in my future for The Challenge. But getting to do different things with very different types of people checks off more of my bucket list than what would’ve amounted to my 22nd or 23rd season. There was starting to be a law of diminishing returns of what I was getting out of The Challenge.”
Additionally, Wes believes some of his fellow players should join him in his neck of the woods on House of Villains. Thus, Bergmann noted, “Ashley Mitchell, Amanda Garcia, Devin Walker, those three would thrive in this environment.”
As Wes showed enthusiasm for returning to the show that gave him his wins, the series spin-off will likely not see a cameo from the villain. The MTV alum expressed that he is hesitant to return for The Challenge: All Stars.
Even though he didn’t see the gameplay as physically demanding as on The Challenge, Bergmann still made sure to prepare in other ways for House of Villains. He even spoke to a previous competitor to strategize.
How Did Wes “Collect Data” For House Of Villains?
Since Bergmann is known for his “gameplay,” it comes as no surprise that he was strategizing before entering Season 2 of House of Villains. Moreover, Wes revealed that he “was collecting data” from the start and even connected with Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio. Bananas was in House of Villains Season 1 as a finalist and has won The Challenge before.
Unsurprisingly, even though it seemed as if they are friends in some seasons, Bergmann comes with his skepticism. The MTV alum disclosed, “You can only take what he says with a grain of salt. In some ways, he’s very, very different than I am. But I got the gist of everything and it was helpful to talk with him. But I can’t do what he does because he’s got that thing that I could never replicate, so I still had to be myself.”
Fans can catch House of Villains on E! with a new episode airing on October 17th. Additionally, it can be streamed on Hulu with a premium subscription or Peacock.
