Hoda Kotb Said ‘Guilt’ Caused Her To Quit Hosting ‘Today’
There are a ton of rumors about why Hoda Kotb quit her hosting job on Today. Most of these come from unnamed sources. However, really, the only person anyone should believe is Hoda herself because anything else is speculation. In a recent interview, Hoda said why she chose now to quit and it ties in with her past explanations.

Hoda Kotb Said She Quit Today Out Of Guilt
When Hoda Kotb said she was leaving Today, she admitted that it was because she wanted to spend more time with her kids. She is 60, has two young daughters, and noted she wanted to enjoy their childhood years.
A lot of rumors began drifting around, including some that said she was annoyed with her co-workers and others saying that she was being asked to take a pay cut. However, she has said more than once it is just about her family and a recent interview reiterated that explanation.
Hoda was on the cover of PEOPLE and the quote on the cover said she was “Excited For What’s Next.” In the interview, Hoda said that she felt a lot of guilt when it came to spending time at work rather than being home, and vice versa. More so, she said she wanted to be 100% in both areas and felt bad when giving one less time.
Hoda said she had to make a decision.
Why Did Hoda Kotb Leave Today?
Hoda Kotb has two children she adopted: Haley Joy, 7, and Hope Catherine, 5. In the interview, she said that she couldn’t put them after Today and knew she had to put them first.

“Something has to give if you want excellence. If you’re going to be excellent at work, something has to give at home. And if you want to be excellent at home, I mean excellent, and do all the things, something has to give at work. It can’t be equal,” Hoda said.
The fact that she quit Today does not mean she has given up her career. While she won’t be on the morning show, the network is keeping her around. It is expected that she will do more primetime interviews and specials, possibly similar to what Barbara Walters did over her career. Hoda’s last day on Today as a host will come in January 2025.
