Mark Harmon & Austin Stowell Dish On ‘NCIS’ Prequel
The reason NCIS has gone on for 22 successful seasons is that the show is filled to the brim with hard-hitting drama. Episode 1 of NCIS landed on television screens in 2003. Over the years, it’s attracted a loyal fan base. Mark Harmon and Austin Stowell are set to star in a jaw-dropping new prequel called NCIS: Origins. Mark is narrating and Austin is playing the younger version of Mark’s NCIS character. The spinoff will premiere on CBS on October 14, 2024. Here’s what Mark and Austin have openly said about their readiness for the show.
Mark Harmon And Austin Stowell Are Set For This NCIS Prequel
There’s much to look forward to when NCIS: Origins finally premieres. The premise sheds light on Leroy Jethro Gibb’s life as a young adult in 1991. It picks up near the start of his career as a special agent passionate about solving crimes. When watching typical episodes of NCIS, seeing Leroy in action is the norm. This prequel will give viewers an idea of what he was like before he became so confident with his actions. During a recent interview, Austin spoke highly about his opportunity to play a young version of Mark’s character on-screen with People Magazine.
He said:
”I knew I had something that I could bring to the character that was very real, that was palpable. But I also knew that I was stepping into a character that was creative, created and filled out, and beloved by this guy for 20 years. And I wanted to pay homage to his acting talent.”
Austin went on to explain that he wasn’t interested in pulling off an impression of Leroy. He deeply wanted to bring the character to life in a way that honored Mark’s talent. Austin went on to describe the cast and crew of NCIS: Origins as being “a family already.” Mark seemingly agreed with that statement because he responded:
“If you can bring [family] to it too, what Austin’s talking about, then you venture into the territory of something special and it becoming a little more than a job. This is a place where everybody’s busting their tail because they want it to be good. It’s not about a paycheck.”
On IMDb, the original NCIS has pulled in a 7.8 out of 10 star rating. If the spinoff truly follows the same patterns as the original show, there’s a chance it will perform equally as well, if not better. Unquestionably, shows that focus on crime-solving tend to rank well with viewers who enjoy seeing justice get served. Watching Special Agent Leroy learn his place in law enforcement as a criminal investigator will be an interesting highlight in this prequel. What are your thoughts on NCIS: Origins?
