‘Ghosts’ Season 4 Big Cast Changes & New Characters
Ghosts is coming back with its fourth season. A few new characters will be joining the cast this upcoming season, for both the living and the dead. Some storylines planned for the season have been revealed, giving fans a few hints on what to expect.
A Story Of Ghosts Of The Past, In More Ways The One
Based on the British series of the same name, Ghosts revolves around a married couple, Samantha and Jay Arondekar, who inherit the Woodstone house from Sam’s ancestor. Little do they realize, however, that the estate is filled with ghosts. After a near-death experience, Sam develops the ability to see these spirits.
With the show’s upcoming fourth season, a few more characters are set to join the series. Mary Holland has been cast as Patience, the ghost of a Puritan woman from the 1600s.
According to Deadline, series showrunner Joe Port described her as a “feral Puritan ghost.” He added “She’s funny, she’s quirky, she’s off, she’s just perfect for patience.”
In this season, fans will also get to meet Sam’s father, Frank, who will be played by Dean Norris. He will visit Woodstone with his new girlfriend, seeing his daughter for the first time in years. While described as a kind and affable fellow, it’s said Sam has some resentment to her father for being absent in her life.
It’s said a ghost will cause Sam to confront her true feelings with an awkward conversation with her father. Showrunner Joe Wiseman also pointed out that his daughter suggested Norris from the role after watching him on Breaking Bad. He added, “He was available and wanted to do it, so she’s very proud.”
Some Stories Have Already Been Revealed
The show also has big plans for Jay on the show. There are plans to have him finally see ghosts. As his actor, Utkarsh Ambudkar, joked, “Guys, I get to talk to people at work!”
Viewers will also get to meet Jay’s side of the family. The actor noted that this will be “really stressful for Sam” as she and Jay’s mother has a “strange, antagonistic relationship.” Ultimately, Sam will either have to prove herself to her in-laws or they will have to “accept these two people for who they really are and the unconditional love that they clearly have for each other.”
A few holiday episodes have also been announced for the upcoming season. In addition to the show’s yearly Halloween special, it was revealed that there will be an hour-long Christmas special. Ghosts will premiere its fourth season on October 17, 2024.
