His Near-Death Experience

Dylan O’Brien plays the lead role in The Maze Runner movie series. The trilogy is based on books. However, they turned them into movies, and they ended up being one of the most popular movie series. Dylan played Thomas in the movies. However, he almost died on the set of The Death Cure. It was reported that during a scene, Dylan was thrown from a vehicle and struck another one. This left him with a concussion, facial injuries, along with many more injuries. They had to take a break from filming and finish up the following year. This accident happened in 2016.

What Dylan O’Brien Would Change

Dylan O’Brien has reflected on the accident and revealed why he feels as though it happened. He does not think that he was listened to when he voiced his concerns. 

“It’s taught me that, at the end of the day, in these spaces, you have your own back, and that’s the most you can rely on. I know the person I am, and the character I bring to set, and the way I treat people and the way that I treat a workspace, and I know I’m not difficult. I know I’m not an asshole. I learned after the accident to not conflate taking care of yourself and looking after yourself. Don’t let them manipulate you into thinking that is being difficult, because I can look at that day and know I was a 24-year-old kid who was raising concerns about how we were approaching things, and they were not listened to, they were not respected. Then what happened happened.”

Fans are grateful that nothing worse happened at the time. However, they feel bad that Dylan tried to voice his concerns, and they were not listened to.

It seems that Dylan realized that he was not respected during the filming process. He had raised concerns about the scene, and they were not listened to. This unfortunately led to a horrific accident. Thankfully, he was okay. However, he would not let something like that happen again.
